How to unlock the The End? trophy

Note: This solution is relevant for patch 1.22 and uses the tutorial world - if the tutorial world is changed again, the coordinates given may no longer apply.

I'm putting up this solution as the fastest way to get to The End for those poor unfortunates like myself who went pure-ist on the whole experience, mining and working hard for every resource and hunting Endermen for days and days, only to get to the End Portal and discover it was broken - can't be fixed, end of story.

So first, BIG recommendation. Once you have a pickaxe (see below) go to coordinates x: 13, y:29, z: 26 in the tutorial world (dig carefully - there's lava down there!) and check that your End Portal can be completed. It's a five by five grid where all corners are empty so each side is made up of three End blocks with empty slots for the Ender eyes. Credit for these coordinates to ikanespeal on YouTube. If the portal is there, unbroken, proceed onwards. If it's broken, create a new tutorial world, go check again until you have a complete one, and then proceed onwards.

Next recommendation – play on peaceful! The Enderdragon will still appear and you can roam the land freely, grabbing what you need without using up resources and time defeating skeletons, spiders, and creepers along the way.

In order to enter the End Portal the only thing you need to do is complete the portal - then you can step through it for this trophy. Having said that, since the Enderdragon is on the other side and you can't get out of the End without defeating it first, probably best to go in there just a little bit prepared! I'll add a guide for the trophy that follows this one with some recommendations for that.

So, to complete the End Portal you will need a maximum of 12 Ender eyes (there are twelve slots in the End Portal but some may already be filled). There are two ways to get Ender eyes, the easy way and the hard way. I’ll mention the hard way at the end for anyone who’s interested, but since this is supposed to a ‘fastest way’ solution, let’s go with the easy way. Clerics (the guys dressed in purple) will trade for Ender eyes. You will need a lot of gold and emerald to trade with but in the tutorial world these are easy to find.
    - There are blocks of emerald at the beacon in the town you spawn near. Get iron ingots from the chest in the nearby library shop, pop some wood from the nearest tree (or wood floor) to craft a crafting table and then make yourself an iron pickaxe. Use the axe to get the emeralds.
    - There are blocks of gold (12 of them) at coordinates x:118, y:68, z:-82 – in the floor at the back of the big cathedral looking room.

Convert your blocks of gold and emerald into ingots/stones and then head to a cleric. There is one in the town you spawn near in the shop that has the glass bottles on the signs outside. There is also one in a village at coordinates x:60, y:-68, z:-146.

The clerics have a tier structure for what they’ll offer – see the chart at http://minecraft.gamepedia.com/Trading. So they won't offer Ender eyes straight up. Buy a tier 1 item (gold for emeralds) and then exit the trade. Watch for the cleric to get a sparkle around him – this means he’s levelled up his available trades to the next tier. If it doesn’t happen after one tier 1 trade, do another one. Once the sparkle has happened, trade again, buying a tier 2 item (lapis lazuli or redstone dust for emeralds). Exit the trade and wait for the sparkle again. Once it happens, tier 3 items will be available, including Ender eyes. Now trade again, and buy as many Ender eyes as you can (usually 6) before the trade disappears, and then exit the trade menu. To get the cleric to trade for them again, go back to tier 1 goods and repeat the process until the Ender eyes are available again and then buy another 6. You should now have twelve Ender eyes.

If you run out of emeralds, you can get more by trading with librarians. With a high enough enchantment level they will have available a trade of books for emeralds – and there are lots of bookshelves around the town you can break to get books.

Now, take your twelve Ender eyes to the End Portal and place them in the empty slots. Mine had a couple already filled so you may not need all twelve. Once they’re all in place the portal will open. Jump in for the trophy!

The hard way to get Ender eyes, which I did during my first attempt, is to play on Easy and roam the land hoping to stumble across Endermen, kill them and pick up the Ender pearls they drop until you have twelve. They like the desert region and usually you can find two or three each night cycle. Once you have twelve, you will need twelve blaze powder to turn them into Ender eyes, and for that you’ll need blaze rods you can only get from the Blaze, who only live in the Nether. There’s a Nether Portal at coordinates x:-260, y:71, z:-368 – it’s a small island in the top left hand corner of the map. You’ll have to find the Nether fortress when you get there because the Blaze only hang out there. Take a lot of fire resistance potion with you as this will help. Kill lots of Blazes until you have twelve blaze rods and then head back to your portal to return home. Craft the blaze rods into blaze powder and then combine with the Ender pearls to get your twelve Ender eyes. This way is hard work and for me was fruitless on the new tutorial world as I couldn’t find the Nether fortress and I roamed all over the Nether looking for it.

Hope this solution helps someone - if you had a broken End Portal like me, I feel your pain! Cheers
