The majority of the Avengers characters will be unlocked as you progress through the story missions, you will have all of these by the time you finish story mode:
- Black Widow
- Captain America
- Hawkeye
- Hulk
- Iron Man MK1
- Iron Man MK6
- Iron Man MK42
- Nick Fury
- Thor
Once you finish story mode, multiple bonus missions will unlock. Completing "House Party Protocol" will give you Iron Man MK7, and completing "Tabloid Tidy Up" will give you Agent Coulson.
The final character to unlock is Maria Hill. On the outside of the helicarrier, you will have to find her and complete three mini missions. Her first location is in a tower on the northern side of the carrier, beat her in the race. The second location is under a slight awning slightly east from the HUB entrance, defeat all the enemies. Her final location is in another tower on the southern end of the carrier, beat her in another race.
All the characters unlocked outside of the story missions must be purchased for them to count.
