The easiest one to kill with I found was the rock/earth stomp once you've upgraded it, as the gravity one doesn't do much damage and just makes everyone float and so you have to shoot them. Switch using
until you get the right one.
If you've finished the game and need aliens to spawn, walk into a shop and shoot the shopkeeper for instant reputation.
