At lower levels when your totems and bonuses are still low-levelled thmselves, this can be easy or awkward to get depending on how the tokens fall for you.

As you level and earn more gems and as your totems/bonuses level up, 1,000,000 points is very easy to get. Most games you will probably be scoring at least 5 or 6 million points.

Note: There are two different types of 'gem' in this game. Plain gems are actually referred to as tokens and the term gem applies only to the tokens that have small crystals in the center of them.

Tips for High Scores

The best way to ensure you score high in a game is to equip specific totems/bonuses:

- Lightning: This is my personal favourite. At level 4, when this token is matched it smashes every token in the same column and row as the token is on.

- Colour Burst: When matched, this bonus will take out several tokens of its own colour. Can be good for picking up the free time and hint bonuses.

- Dynamite: Upon being matched, this token will explode and destroy several adjacent tokens. At level 4, the blast radius has a large area of effect.

- Added Crystals: I actually prefer this dynamite. At level 4, it will allow for eight gems to appear on the board at once, allowing for many more matches to be made and therefore many more bonuses to appear on your board.

Free bonuses

As you level, these bonuses will also level automatically. You have no control over their level or when/where they appear in game. They will be randomly thrown onto the board as you match gems.

They cost you nothing to use obviously, and they are the key to scoring high in any game.

- Time bonus: When matched, these tokens add time onto the clock. If you play your time bonuses correctly, you can make a game last up to 10 minutes at a time.

- Hint bonus: Another excellent bonus. At level 4, when these tokens are match they will show every available match on the board. Invaluable for scoring high points.

Totems

Totems cost a lot to hire per game and I personally don't like using them, as you have to make several matches of the same colour (requires either luck or time to set up). Equip with caution.

I play without them equipped and in my highest scoring game, I earned 129.98 million points. So they are not necessary for scoring high at all.

- Purple Totem: The only totem I personally feel is worth equipping, and only at level 4. Upon match two sets of purple gems, this totem will added bonuses to your board.

This is a great totem if you start a game and the purples fall into place for you, but it generally only happens once or twice per match and will be a huge time sink if you try and set up purple-specific matches.

I can almost guarantee in the amount of time it takes to activate the totem that you could have earned several more bonuses by simply playing the game.
