No solution but a simple heads up...
There is a small bug that might prevent you from getting the trophy at the earliest possible moment. On Mars you can find two SMG mods (Scope and Ultralight materials) right next to a weapons bench. The game might not register those upgrades when you pick them up and they don't show when you use the bench during your first playthrough. This happened to me on my first playthrough but on the second they registered correctly. There are reports that say that you can buy those upgrades later on in the game if you don't pick them up but I've never tried so I can't confirm.
There are more upgrades later on in the Mars mission that work flawless. Just pick those up and mod your stuff in the cargo bay when you're on the Normandy for the first time.
