Abodes are bought through the craftsman in town if you you choose to visit, they are really just different forms of lobbies in which you can see your character and the other vassals standing around in between battles. In order to purchase them all, it will cost 90 gold. If you simply build up your force and wait until the later parts of the scenario you should have more than enough to buy out all of the abodes.
