    if i wait to get it instead of going to flame mammoths and spending hours trying to get it for zero to give it to me, will i get this and first armor?

    You can only get this if you pass up the hidden arm upgrade in Flame Mammoths stage. If you pass that up Zero passes on his superior arm cannon when he dies.
