The requirement is simple but the execution can be challenging. To unlock the trophy, start Score Attack Mode. The Trophy unlocks once your score goes over 1,000,000,000 points. Execution requires judicious risk/reward assessments. If you concentrate on survivability at the expense of scoring, you can easily fall well short of the points requirement.

To increase the score, the most important factor is increasing the combo count. Since the combo count resets upon dying, use bombs, if necessary, to survive and keep the combo count high. The second most important factor is to get the special bonus by destroying large enemies in close proximity to them with the focus shot. Success is indicated by a ping. Practice at the beginning of the stage with the first few large enemies to get a feel for this technique then employ it throughout the stage.

It goes without saying to try to collect as many ground scoring items but not where it presents too big a risk. Given a choice between a gold ground medal or a close range focus shot against a large enemy, choose the latter--it has a much higher payoff. In fact, if you are very aggressive in successfully executing the close-range focus shots against large enemies, you can afford to be laxer in other areas. Providing you managed to get your combo count above 600, you can afford to die once or twice if you have been collecting a significant number of focus shot bonuses. Note that lives lost and bombs expended will decrease scoring bonuses.

Whereas it is possible to reach the 1,000,000,000 mark before destroying the final boss; more likely it is the end of stage bonuses that push you over the mark. If you fail to reach the required points take note of the end of stage bonuses and determine what you can improve on--combo count, ground scoring items of various types, gold stars, tech orbs (the silvery items produced from the focus shot), etc.

If your ship gets hit before you have reached a 600 combo, it is quite difficult to meet the points goal. It is more efficient to press cn_start to exit the game and start a new Score Attack Mode run. The stage is quite short so it is just a question of practice for survivability and score optimization.
