How to unlock the Contract Runner trophy

The first step to this trophy is to actually get a Contract. These are rare randomised drops you can obtain from finishing a match however EVERYONE is awarded one at level 25 so if you don't have one by then you will now. You have to be the squad leader running the contract to obtain this trophy.

Contracts require a squad of 5 people, whilst you can start the game with less or even solo this is pretty much a death wish, you ideally want a full team even if you're getting a less skilled player to fill the slot up as "feeding" isn't really an issue here, the extra body can at least be a distraction ;).

The first thing you are greeted with is a screen to assign roles on the ship, from my experience you'll want the purple guy to be in charge, red ones on the wings and tip and then a green one on the inside however you can replace any reds with green if you don't have enough. These choices change how your ship will defend itself and those choices seem to work the best, I've never payed too close attention to it so as long as they're not empty you should be mostly okay.

Once you begin the contract you'll need to survive various "jumps" against both AI and real players, each jump will last 5 minutes in which you'll be defending and upgrading your ship with Ore (just like you would an outpost)

The first jump is always an Ore collection, there are minimal amounts of AI lurking around but this round is purely to gather Ore from the map and upgrade the ship, you'll want every section of the ship to be upgraded to level 2 by the end of this, maybe even a couple of 3's. From this point onwards it's a mix of AI/Ore farming jumps and real game invasions.

For AI/Ore farming jumps it's more of the same, collect Ore from the map and upgrade the ship but as you progress later in the contract the AI gets stronger and more aggressive so you'll need to defend your ship a bit as well.

For the real games you'll appear in the middle of a REAL 10v10 game, your ship spawns in a new spot on the map and both teams can attack your ship (there's even a trophy for them if they manage to destroy it), you can even take their outposts as the yellow team if you want. You need to focus on defending your ship hard as nothing is stopping a possible total of 20 players coming to attack your ship when you only have 5 people to defend it, you need to last 5 minutes of possibly constant attack. If any part of your ship is destroyed it can be repaired by upgrading it with Ore but you'll lose the person you've assigned to it forfeiting the perks that come with it and you'll waste Ore that could be upgrading other sections.

If your ship is destroyed the contract is gone, you only get one shot so try and prepare yourself for it. A great way to see how the real match invasions behave is to pay attention to when a Capital Ship has spawned into a match you've been playing, the yellow area appears on the map grid and people from both teams try to tackle it. Check how they defend it and maybe replicate some of their strategies etc. for the most part a fully upgraded ship is difficult to destroy anyway so it's not too difficult but even so you need to know how to defend successfully.

Bonus psychological tip that might help sometimes is not to attack anyone unless they attack your ship, sometimes players will just leave you alone unless you get involved in their game, especially if they're having a close game. If a team does attack your ship, for example the reds attack you, try to side with the blues and hope that maybe the blues will give you a hand in return for you helping them take out the reds as that will not only half the potential people attacking your ship but significantly increases firepower on your side. Sometimes diplomacy is stronger than fighting hard.
