Game of the Year 2022 round twelve asks which game has the greater need for speed — Sonic Frontiers or Need for Speed Unbound? The decision comes down to you!

Sonic Frontiers takes on Need for Speed Unbound in the twelfth match-up calling on the community vote for Game of the Year 2022. The winner will move forward from the first 32 competing games into the Quarterfinals of this GOTY vote.

Does the seventh best Sonic game on PlayStation truly deserve to be Game of the Year? That's an important question, but not one we have to answer right now. Today, we must answer only one pressing question — who has the greater need? Sonic Frontiers should seemingly have the edge in a speed-needing competition, it even borrows the Drop Dash from Sonic Mania for an extra boost while you're running around.

Then again, Sonic Frontiers does have a fishing minigame which seems to muddle the message, suggesting that Sonic does not, in fact, need speed. Whereas Need for Speed Unbound absolutely needs as much speed as it can get — otherwise TT News Editor Kes is going to catch up to it and throw it in a washing machine until all that anime art style nonsense rinses clean off it.
