Poll: When will God of War Ragnarok be released?

By Kes Eylers-Stephenson,

Sony's first-party PlayStation Studios portfolio has been dry since the release of Gran Turismo 7, Horizon Forbidden West, and Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection. Now, the God of War Ragnarok release date is uncertain.

Santa Monica's sequel to God of War (2018) is in a curious place. God of War Ragnarok was set to launch in 2021, but it was pushed back to the end of 2022 and now it is the last PlayStation Studio set for this year. Now we want to quiz you — when do you think God of War Ragnarok will release?

Santa Monica's God of War drama

god of war ragnarokGod of War release date is wavering between 2022 and 2023, it seems.

What a week! We have all the drama contained in our God of War Ragnarok release date article, but here are the facts:

  • An article claiming to have "several European sources" suggested the game's release date had been pushed to 2023.
  • The article was refuted by God of War's original creator David Jaffe and reliable journalist Jason Schreier.
  • A mix-up saw David Jaffe suggest he had received additional information that suggested a 2023 launch, to which Cory Barlog — the director of God of War in 2018 and producer on Ragnarok — jokingly suggested that 2022 is still the target year.
However, there is one last wrinkle in this. Naughty Dog's first PS5 release, The Last of Us Part I was confirmed for a September 2nd release.

With Ragnarok pencilled in for November, the two dates might end up competing over Sony's holiday window, which the company may want to avoid. That isn't Sony handled the Horizon Forbidden West and Gran Turismo 7 releases in February and March, however; as they released very close together, indeed!

That leaves us confused as to when it might be! So, we have supplied three options in a poll below — 2022, 2023, and Other. Let us know what you think then leave a comment!
When will release God of War Ragnarok be released?
  • 2022 release date, for sure!
  • 2023 release date, this thing is being delayed!
  • Other — I'm a rogue/I'm not that bothered!
