Poll: Are PlayStation's The Last of Us, God of War, and Horizon TV shows a good move?

By Kes Eylers-Stephenson,

PlayStation boss Jim Ryan has confirmed that PlayStation Productions is going to be pushing for Horizon and Gran Turismo extended media in addition to Amazon's God of War, HBO's The Last of Us, and Peacock's Twisted Metal adaptations.

In a week of busy financials, ResetEra relayed an interesting titbit that popped up in a Q&A with Jim Ryan. In essence, he confirmed that PlayStation Productions — the production house behind Sony Pictures' Uncharted — is pursuing an additional TV show and movie in addition to all previously announced projects. We want to know if you think this is the right direction for the PlayStation brands.

What TV shows and movies are coming from PlayStation and Sony?

The Uncharted movie was no doubt a huge commercial success and the first move into a more multi-media orientated PlayStation brand. PlayStation Production now also has a Ghost of Tsushima movie in development with John Wick alumni attached to direct. Also confirmed is The Last of Us TV Show with HBO, starring Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey, which is currently filmed and entering post-production. We have Peacock's Twisted Metal show with Anthony Mackie and the Deadpool writers on script duties. Amazon has the right to a God of War TV show, which everyone wants Kratos voice actor Christopher Judge to star in (but we probably won't get it, boo!).

Two more just got announced by Jim Ryan in the Q&A session: a Horizon TV show and Gran Turismo movie. To be fair, if Gran Turismo was a documentary that would be so cool, but then so would a full-on behind the scenes drama set in the garages and paddocks like an only slightly faker version of Drive to Survive. Horizon would be a cool animated show, but we pray it doesn't go live-action.

So, what do you think of this lineup? Is PlayStation playing the right game? Would you tune in to these stations? Answer in the poll and get in the comments.
Are PlayStation's The Last of Us, God of War, and Horizon TV shows a good move?
  • Yes — it is a smart move
  • No — it's a bad move
  • Maybe — there are many factors in play
  • I don't care — no trophies, no bueno
