Poll: Everything shown and announced at The Game Awards — what were your favourites?

By Kes Eylers-Stephenson,
The Game Awards happened yesterday. It was a lot of stuff in a short space of time, with big game announcements and updates to all the stuff we love. We have a round-up of all you need to know, as well as a poll asking what your favourites were!

A new trailer for Quantic Dream's Star Wars game was shown off, called Eclipse. It takes place in the High Republic era and the trailer shows off several people playing the bongos. We also have a decidedly creepy little trailer for Alan Wake II, coming in 2023, after the release of the Alan Wake Remastered earlier this year. There was a CG stinger for a Wonder Woman game, though nothing substantive other than the announcement that Monolith is working on it for WB Games. Co-op game Arc Raiders was announced and slated for 2022, and a new horror game called Slitterhead (from the designer behind Silent Hill). Sonic Frontiers is getting all open-world, but don't forget about the new Sonic The Hedgehog 2 Movie trailer that announced the new film will be out on April 8th, 2022. PS5 is getting a slate of newly announced games on top of this, coming in 2022 and beyond: Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2, Cuphead The Delicious Last Course (June 30th, 2022), Star Trek: Resurgence (spring 2022), Rumbleverse (2022), Homeworld 3 (Q4, 2022), The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The Expanse: A TaleTale Series, Persona 4 Arena Ultimax (March 17th, 2022), Evil West, Thirsty Suitors, Have a Nice Death (March 2022), Planet of Lana (2022), and Nightingale.

Existing games got plenty of airtime, as well. Horizon Forbidden West had some new gameplay ahead of its release on February 18th, 2022. There was the Destiny 2 The Witch Queen trailer, the expansion now scheduled for February 22nd, 2022. We had an all-new trailer for The Lord of the Rings: Gollum — The Untold Story, which is yet to pin down a date. Tchia is coming to PlayStation in spring 2022, but don't let the fact you haven't heard of it mean you miss out. This game looks like a great tropical getaway.

Forspoken announce

Suicide Squad (2022), Saints Row (August 23rd, 2022) and Forspoken (May 24th, 2022) had some fantastic gameplay trailers that indicated the three are looking in great shape. Especially Forspoken... it looks so dang pretty. Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands also got a slick trailer before its eventual March 25th, 2022 release. Greedfall developers Spiders new game, Steelrising, is coming in June, 2022. A trailer for A Plague Tale Requiem (2022) has us literally begging for the disease and horror of the wonderful new series from Team Asobo, as does the fab CG taler from Techland showing off Dying Light 2 before it releases on February 4th, 2022. Vampire The Masquerade Blood Hunt had a new trailer, it releases in spring 2022. The big one was of course Elden Ring, with its high fantasy styled lore trailer setting up the world before releasing on February 25th, 2022. The Matrix Awakens is available now for free, by the way, and is an Unreal Engine 5 experience.

Some updates are happening in the following games, too. Beat Saber is getting a Lady Gaga Update on December 10th. PUBG is being updated on January 12th, 2022. There is a Fall Guys Santa Jack’s Challenge update coming that runs from December 16-27, 2021. No date yet, but Among Us VR looks like a launch that might destroy every human relationship you have known. Genshin Impact had two new characters announced, too. Fortnite Chapter 3 (Dec 07, 2021) had a little trailer shown.

Now you are all caught up, what took your fancy? Let us know by voting for some of your favourites in the poll, and leave a comment down below!
