Poll: What was your favourite pre-E3 PlayStation announcement?

By Kes Eylers-Stephenson,
For an E3 where PlayStation is not having a conference, a surprising about of blue-related info-nuggets have fallen out of the Japanese company's pockets and been gobbled up by the ever-present Geoff Keighly. Which one has been your favourite?

Kena: Bridge of Spirits

The Summer Game Fest opened proceedings with two announcements. The first piece of news was that Death Stranding is getting Hideo Kojima's directors cut, a-la Zack Snyder's Justice League. A full reveal isn't that far away, but maybe this was enough to get you excited? The second bit of news is that the great Shuhei Yoshida took to the stage to talk about Chicory: A Colourful Tale (Check out Heidi's fantastic review!) and show a trailer for the new indie platformer Salt and Sacrifice, the sequel to Salt and Sanctuary. Maybe Shu got your heart pumping for these two treasures? The third Summer Game Fest reveal was that PlayStation is teaming up with the newly-formed Deviation for its first game. The partnership follows similar deals with Jade Raymond's Haven studio and the talented developers that formed Firewalk Studios. Is this what made you most excited for your PlayStation future?

Two further indie games were shown at various pre-E3 events. The beautiful-looking Kena: Bridge of Spirits got a real deep dive at the tasty Tribeca Indie showcase event. There was gameplay and cinematics to feast your eyes upon, so maybe this has your attention? The other indie was kung-fu game Sifu. Slick combat and dance-floor antics were shown in a trailer in which a man got his head smashed with a bottle and then roundhouse kicked into the corner of a bar table. We are all about this as a community, yes?

Although, maybe you are busy at the moment with the extraordinary Rift Apart. Our editor, Luke, gave it a very complimentary review. He said that "if you've been lucky enough to get hold of a PS5, this is the game that shows better than any other just what the gleaming white tower of power can really do." In other R&C stuff happening around the site, a new feature called Two Crude Dudes: A Ratchet & Clank Compendium released this week. It is a guide through the series featuring your input, some strange awards, and stats just in time for Rift Apart! Please, have a read if you have a spare few minutes!

Hey, I'm Kes! I'm a Staff Writer, and I've been here since 2021. What do I like? The Outer Wilds is top notch. The Witcher 3 blew my mind over the course of five years completing it. I want Burnout back — I really miss crunching mechanical wonders into walls to the sound of Guns N' Roses. Cool, now we are acquainted, I'll see you around.
