Red Dead Redemption port misses top 40 most popular PlayStation games Red Dead Redemption's new PS4 port hasn't got off to the most popular start on the PlayStation Chart of the top 40 most-played PS5 and PS4 games of last week.Kes Eylers-Stephenson Published 21 Aug 2023 FollowtopicsChartKes Eylers-Stephenson That new list of Red Dead Redemption trophies has left our sample of 3.2 million PSN players cold, it seems! That's right, the wild west remains out of the top 40 games in our PlayStation Chart this week, suggesting that even the best PS3 games can fail to impress when handled poorly!Port of PS3 classic fails to entice PS4 gamersRed Dead Redemption's 'all-new' PS4 port leads the charge on our topics this week, but it certainly isn't leading any player count numbers in our sample. As soon as that first trailer was revealed after rumors of remakes and upgrades, it became clear just how many fans were unhappy that this was just a plain port to the PS4. So now it ends up in 81st place on our chart — that's right, it couldn't make it into the top 40. Interestingly, Red Dead Redemption 2 moved up a place suggesting that anybody interested in Red Dead Redemption is probably there right now. Let's move on to our biggest decrease this week — it's last week's headline free-to-play RPG. Players had been nabbing Tower of Fantasy trophies in droves last week and we were wondering if it could maintain 15th place. It couldn't. Week-on-week, the total player count is down by 38% on PS5 and PS4. That drops Tower of Fantasy to 29th, making it one of the biggest drops of the week.We have a double billing of bonus games to talk about. Firstly, players trying to (eventually) get all those Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege trophies after its latest update have helped Ubisoft's tactical shooter into the top ten for the first time in a long time as it hits ninth. Then we should probably note Madden NFL 24, which had landed in at 28th in its first appearance on the chart. Our data is slightly skewed towards Europe, so that just goes to show the mighty stir its caused this year on the chart.Well, that all leaves us thinking that this is one of the strangest player counts for a game this year since we realized the Bloodborne player count for July 2023! What do you think of it all?
