The Oregon Trail platinum trophy has been revealed, and it's a toughie. If you've not hopped on the (band)wagon and started collecting The Oregon Trail trophies yet, the famously hard-to-beat childhood throwback is now available on PS5 and PS4 looking more challenging than ever.

The Oregon Trail PS5 platinum trophy revealed

This modern re-imagining of the childhood classic game bears all the hallmarks of its now ancient ancestor. You're in charge of an expedition out west, complete with covered wagons, supplies, and a host of challenging characters.
Your task is to steer these roving colonists to Oregon, where they will settle down and begin to thrive. Along the way, you'll encounter an array of issues from the historically accurate to the downright ridiculous. Keep everyone fed, clean, and without injury – and you might just make it.

With the amount of variables present in the game it's no surprise that The Oregon Trail's PS5 and PS5 trophy list is hard to complete. There will be hazards like wild animals, the classic dysentery that somehow ended all of our games as kids, exhaustion, starvation, and more to contend with. Plus, there's brand-new quests and journeys that vary each time you play. There are a total of 42 trophies for The Oregon Trail, 23 bronze, 12 silver, 6 gold, and one platinum.

Some of these trophies, even the bronzes, you'll have to play with the requirements in mind, such as "crossing the Big Blue River without incident" or "Reaching Independence Rock on or before July 4." They may not be too challenging once you know what you're aiming for.

Other bronzes rely on your exploration getting to a certain point, like locating specific places or eating a specific amount of food. Completing in-game events will also reveal mandatory trophies, and yes there is a (hidden) trophy for dying of dysentery. (Sorry, we just had to spoil that one — you can spoil the rest of the secret trophies yourself by clicking this link.)

The silver trophies are more difficult and some require a bit of skill, like completing challenges without a single mistake, or completing more than one journey successfully. You'll have to grind a little for some of these, but there's only 12 to complete.

The gold trophies, of which there are only 6, are largely to do with stamina and skill. If you've travelled 8,000 in-game miles, for example, you get a gold. If you've completed 100% of all available Journeys, that's another gold. One that stands out is the requirement to "catch a Yellowfin Cutthroat Trout" in the new fishing minigame, which it can be assumed is no mean feat.

Once you've secured all of the above, the final platinum trophy will be yours for the taking. Check out The Oregon Trail's PS5 and PS4 trophy list in full below.

Miri's hobbies outside of gaming inform everything about their on-screen preferences: Lots of reading, irritatingly tough puzzles, and anything vaguely historical. As such, they're always on the lookout for another Disco Elysium-type read-a-thon, a Myst-like island to get lost in, or an ancient time capsule like The Forgotten City. Other than that, if anything is being described as "weird and unsettling", it's either Miri, or their new favorite indie game.
