Now is the perfect time to jump back into earning those Subnautica trophies after all these years. Developers Unknown Worlds have loaded the game with a small Subnautica 2 PS5 teaser hiding in the haunting seas. Thanks to the constant dread that Subnatuica provides, it still remains one of the best PS4 games around.

Subnautica 2 PS5 teaser has us pumped for the game's release

Developers Unknown Worlds have been sneaking screenshots from Subnautica 2 into the original Subnautica (thanks Eurogamer), with fans now finding these in the game. While the screenshots don't show anything crazy, they are a cool and unique way to drum up hype for the next sequel and it gets players revisiting the vast and horrifying oceans of the game.

The screenshot that has been uncovered (embedded above) shows off a strange bit of aquatic life that we can likely come across in the upcoming sequel. It's hard to tell what it is exactly — it could be a fish-like creature or some of the strange plants we can use in crafting. Regardless, it looks pretty in all of its multicolored glory. The screenshot can be found by uncovering a time capsule that has been placed into Subnautica.

Moderators on Reddit confirmed the image to be legitimate and not a hoax. The moderator even hinted at the possibility of other time capsules being in the game as well. However, nothing else has been uncovered so far.
I'm a huge fan of Subnautica and have been excitedly awaiting the sequel for some time now. As much as I enjoyed the follow-up Subnautica Below Zero, it was never envisioned as a pure sequel to the original, so I can't wait to see what Unknown Worlds do when they go hard at a full Subnautica sequel. I now have the itch to revisit the game and see if I can uncover any more screenshots or mysteries that point to Subnautica 2.

What do you think of this? Do you like the idea of a developer promoting their next game through teasers in an old one? Should we consider adding Subnautica to our list of the best horror games on PS5? Let us know in the comments below!
