Sea of Stars’ free co-op update arrives too late for PS Plus Extra Sea of Stars' free co-op update's release date has been revealed, delivering a multiplayer campaign not long after leaving PS Plus Extra.Lee Brady Published 30 Sep 2024 FollowtopicsSea of StarsSabotage StudioLee Brady If you were holding off on collecting those Sea of Stars trophies on PS Plus Extra until the Sea of Stars free co-op update release date got revealed — well, you might have held off a bit too long. The indie RPG was listed among the games leaving PS Plus back in August 2024, so it looks like you'll need to pick up a copy on PS5 and PS4 to check out the new co-op update!Sea of Stars Dawn of Equinox's release date has been revealedIf you've been looking forward to trying out Sea of Stars' three-player co-op DLC, good news — the Sea of Stars Dawn of Equinox DLC will release on PS5 and PS4 on Tuesday, November 12, 2024. This release follows the announcement of the major free campaign DLC, Throes of the Watchmaker, coming to Sea of Stars in Spring 2025.Prepare to high-five a friend! The Dawn of Equinox update will let you play the entirety of Sea of Stars' campaign with up to three players in local co-op; a feature that makes the best of a new "Cooperative Timed Hits" mechanic. Basically, you'll get to take turns rhythmically batting enemies around, which sounds like a really good time to me.The update also comes with a revamp of the game's combat system, rebalancing enemies, allowing you to bring Combo Points into the next battle, and introducing new Mystery Lock and Reveal features that should generally give you more options in each encounter. These two big overhauls, plus a number of additional quality of life changes, should make Sea of Stars even better for new players and returning fans. The new update also comes with difficulty settings!Unfortunately, the update arrives too late for PS Plus Extra subscribers to check it out. Sea of Stars was one of PS Plus Extra's surprise leaving games for August 2024, and it left in such a rush you might not have even noticed. If you did miss it, we still heartily recommend picking up a copy to keep on PS5 and PS4 — it's listed on our best PS5 indie games list for a reason! Plus, the co-op might make this game a blast to replay from start to finish with a friend (or friends). Let us know if you'll be checking out Sea of Stars' DLC update in November 2024 down in the comments below!More Sea of Stars stories: PS Plus bonus leaving games August 2024 — how hard are the trophies?
