While you may have had no issues at all collecting those Resistance Retribution trophies on PS Plus, the same can't be said for a bunch of other players. Thankfully, the Resistance Retribution broken platinum trophy will be fixed in the coming weeks, Bend Studio confirmed. Despite being currently unobtainable, this PSP classic definitely belongs on our list of the easiest PS Plus platinum trophies.

Resistance Retribution update adds trophies and fixes platinum

Over on the Bend Studio website, we can see a full list of the patch notes for the classic PSP title. The highlight of these patch notes is that the gold trophy 'Destroy the Chrysalis and Raine' — which is rewarded for completing the game — will now be unlockable. Although, those Infected Mode trophies are also very exciting to see.
Some of you may be scratching your heads and wondering how this trophy is unobtainable — after all, a bunch of you have likely earned it already. Well, when Bend Studio released patch 1.0.1. it also inadvertently caused a a bug that stopped the aforementioned trophy from unlocking, blocking players from earning the platinum 'Retribution Paid.'

Fixes
  • Fixed the last story trophy not popping upon completion of the mission for some players – Destroy the Chrysalis and Raine. Go get that elusive Platinum trophy!
  • General bug fixes. Just like Grayson, gotta smash those alien bugs.
New
  • We added the highly requested Infected mode back to Resistance Retribution! Ah, needed this. Playing in Infected mode, James Grayson will wear the black Specter uniform with glowing Chimeran eyes (creepy). As Grayson, you now possess regenerative health and can breathe underwater. Plus, there is more Intel to find and a shiny new weapon to use. Hint: It’s the HE.44 Magnum.
  • Added DLC trophy pack for Infected mode. Yes, you read that right. Not only did we add Infected mode, but we're bringing you 3 additional trophies to earn!
After the recent burn of the Meet Your Maker broken trophies, I couldn't handle any more unobtainable trophies in my collection. However, kudos to Bend Studio for acknowledging the trophy issue within the game and actively working towards fixing it. I wish more developers had this kind of attitude when it comes to trophies!

Resistance Retribution is one of the PS Plus Premium titles I have been most interested in for a while. I adored Resistance Burning Skies on the PS Vita and was hoping this PSP classic would offer and similar vibe and experience. With a plethora of other games in my backlog including the likes of Tekken 8, Dragon's Dogma 2, Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered, and soon-to-be Stellar Blade, I haven't had time for this PSP gem. However, it looks like that has been a bit of a blessing in disguise!

What do you make of the situation? Were you one of the unlucky ones who got stuck with an unobtainable platinum? Or did you manage to earn it before these shenanigans took place? Would you recommend we add Resistance Retribution to our list of the best PS Plus games? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
