In the PS5 Top 40 this week, Star Wars Outlaws' debut on PS5 has come from a galaxy far, far away to our PlayStation Chart. Using our representative sample of 3.1 million active PSN accounts (not just TrueTrophies accounts, courtesy of GameInsights) — Ubisoft's latest PS5 open-world game isn't quite pulling off Black Myth Wukong levels of success!

Star Wars Outlaws was the 25th most popular PS5 game last week

Lee's written our Star Wars Outlaws review, you've seen the trailers, and you've also likely seen the pretty polarizing reaction to the game at launch. Well, something in the cultural zeitgeist hasn't quite light sped Ubisoft's open-world take on the sci-fi franchise to stardom. Star Wars Outlaws was only the #25 most popular PS5 game in its debut week.
That's not bad by any stretch, Star Wars Outlaws has probably sold a fair few copies. However, #25 is just below the middle of the chart and it sits behind pretty much every major and middling live service game in terms of popularity right now. Normally, these are the early 20s spots where PS Plus' indie games debut — not new AAA open-world games.

I think this middling popularity among our sample is stark when compared to the beastly Chinese mega-hit Black Myth Wukong. Sitting in #4 once again after its debut last week, Black Myth Wukong's remarkable PS5 player count helped it qualify as the fourth-biggest single-player game of 2024 — though second in real terms when you exclude Elden Ring's Shadow of the Erdtree expansion and The Last of Us Part II Remastered's cheap upgrade for PS5.

We've also got to acknowledge the horror show that is Concord. I don't know that I've ever seen an AAA game flop this hard since I've started writing these every Monday. Last week, it was in a dreary #147. Now Concord is the #180 most popular PS5 game.
From our sample, Concord lost of its 19.1% of its already miserly player count from its debut week. It's starting to take a long time to find games in matchmaking and the developers have been suspiciously quiet. The future looks bleak for Concord and it never even had a present to live in.

Chart compiled using gameplay data from over 3.1 million active PlayStation accounts (not just TrueTrophies accounts). Chart information is copyright GameInsights. Regarding this data:
  • When an account opens a game, this is registered as a game being played. Accounts can only register a game once per week.
  • Our data is good for suggesting general trends — we represent this using percentages, not numbers.
