PS5 Top 40 — Concord beta finds huge success thanks to PS Plus

In the PS5 top 40 this week, we see Concord's Early Access beta mop up thanks to the easy inclusion as part of PS Plus. Also, Among Us is dominating!

Concord trophies are still behind bars until release on PS5, but the open beta has proved popular thanks to easy access for PS Plus users. Using our 3.1 million active PSN account sample (courtesy of GameInsights), we have a PS5 Top 40 showing Concord is flying with players over the 3-day weekend beta.

PS Plus boosts Concord up the popularity charts

So, let's talk about the controversial 5v5 arena shooter Concord. Once locked to players who had pre-ordered the FPS, Firewalk and Sony clearly decided they needed a much bigger influx of players because they opened access for PS Plus users. The result as expected — Concord's beta was the 29th most popular PS5 game of the week. We'll do a deep dive into Concord later in the week, so keep your eyes peeled!

Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree is finally seeing its time in the spotlight come to an end as it drops two places to #4. As far as 'not in the spotlight' goes, that's a pretty great result! Its player count decreased by 16.6% this week.

PS Plus July 2024's player counts have much more to give. Among Us is the most popular game of the month. Its player count somehow increased again by 13.2% as it rose into position #15. That game has legs, even if its titular characters barely have any!

Interestingly, Borderlands 3 also found another gear this week with a two-place rise in the chart to #24. Given how unpopular the PS Plus July 2024 games have been in the hardcore community, they've had decent success amongst a more general audience.
