All PS5 games announced at the State of Play September 2024

  • 23 upcoming PS5 games and DLC updates were revealed at the State of Play September 2024
  • These include big titles such as Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered and Ghost of Yotei
  • We also got a shadow drop for Palworld and some exciting PS Plus reveals
Sony's latest State of Play showcase aired on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, running for 30 minutes and showing off over 20 new and upcoming PS5 games in its runtime. Unlike previous State of Play shows, this time the focus was primarily on new PS5 games, with some PSVR2 titles included, and with very few of the shown games coming to PS4.

Below, we've highlight all 23 of the PS5 games shown off at the State of Play in September 2024. We've excluded the latest PS Plus announcements from the list, but you should know that PS Plus Extra is adding The Last of Us Part I, PS Plus Premium is getting two PS1 games in 2024 (Dino Crisis and Blood Omen Legacy of Kain), and the PlayStation Plus October 2024 games have been revealed.

For the rest, check out all 23 PS5 game announcements made at the State of Play September 2024 below.

Ghost of Yotei

The long-awaited sequel to Ghost of Tsushima, Ghost of Yotei for PS5 has been revealed and it looks stunning. You play as the new protagonist Atsu — something of an outlaw living in the Yotei region of Hokkaido some 300 years after Jin Sakai's adventure in the previous game. Expect big visual and technical improvements and a whole new side of Japan to explore.

Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered

The Horizon Zero Dawn PS5 remaster has been officially announced, and the good news is that it'll only be a $10 upgrade fee for owners of the PS4 version of the game. Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered aims to bring the original game up to the standards of Horizon Forbidden West's PS5 release — a good reason to revisit this PS4 classic.

Palworld

  • You can check out those Palworld trophies here
  • Release Date: Tuesday, September 24, 2024
  • Platforms: PS5
Long have we wondered when Palworld's PS5 release would happen, only for Sony to pull the rug from under us and shadow drop the game during the State of Play showcase. That means you can now jump into Palworld on PS5 and start collecting all those "Pokémon with Guns" trophies right now!

Lego Horizon Adventures

The leaked Lego Horizon Adventures' release date proved to be true — we'll be playing this kid-friendly take on the Horizon game in November 2024! At State of Play, we got a new pre-order trailer that revealed costumes for Aloy themed on PlayStation characters Ratchet, Rivet, and Sackboy. Seems Astro Bot's costume parties are becoming infectious.

Hell Is Us

In this brand-new post-apocalyptic action game, you take on a blight in a war-torn country. The lead character has technology on their side, but they've also got a cool fantasy sword, and the game seems to blending some old tropes with some modern ideas. Hell Is Us seems very mysterious right now, but the action looks crisp, so we'll definitely be keeping an eye on this one.

ArcheAge Chronicles

Following on from the Korean MMORPG ArcheAge, the upcoming ArcheAge Chronicles seems to be an online RPG with a focus on action-packed combat and open-world exploration. The story is apparently set 50 years after the original game (which you can no longer play in the West), and the game will come with life skills and housebuilding elements to master. It certainly looks like an ambitious PS5 game!

Dragon Age The Veilguard

We've got another look at Dragon Age The Veilguard's PS5 gameplay, and it continues to look like a succinct evolution of what we loved from the previous game Dragon Age Inquisition. Seeing the player mage character target elements of a dragon boss and call upon their companions to perform special attacks looks strategic and addictive, and we can't wait to get our hands on this one!

Monster Hunter Wilds

We finally learned when we can get our hands on Monster Hunter Wilds on PS5: Friday, February 28, 2025. The latest trailer really came out swinging too — we've got massive traps, grappling hooks, pirate dirigibles. This new title just looks like an immensely good time for anyone looking for a big multiplayer PS5 game next year.

Dynasty Warriors Origins

We got a much closer look at this upcoming reset for the Dynasty Warriors franchise, and it looks pretty spectacular! Our feelings about the relaxing and repetitive Dynasty Warriors gameplay aside, the story here looks like it has a lot going for it — they really went all out on the cutscenes this time. Here's hoping it convinces some new fans to fall in love with the series.

The Midnight Walk

The Midnight Walk is a spooky stop-motion PS5 game that looks gorgeous, and it seems that it can be enhanced with a PSVR2 headset if you happen to own one. It comes from the creators of the excellent Lost in Random and stars Potboy, who must navigate a terrifying world with his little lantern.

Fear the Spotlight

A love letter to the blocky horror games that many of us grew up with on PS1, Fear the Spotlight will task you with solving puzzles and navigating creepy environments just like we did in the good old days. It's one of the upcoming lineup of horror games coming from the new Blumhouse Games, so keep an eye on it if you want some scares just in time for Hallowe'en.

Towers of Aghasba

Easily one of the PS5 indies we're most excited about, Towers of Aghasba continues to look absolutely breathtaking in this new footage. The game is launching into Early Access on PS5 sometime in November 2024 and will feature online multiplayer that allows you to show off your island and hang out with a friend.

Legacy of Kain Soul Reaver 1 and 2 Remastered

We might not be getting a Days Gone PS5 remaster, but we are getting something much more necessary: a remastered release of the Legacy of Kain Soul Reaver games. These two PS2 classics star Raziel, lieutenant of the vampiric series namesake Kain, as he seeks revenge after Kain murders him. These classic games still have a lot of fans and it's great to see the series getting some overdue attention on PS5 and PS4.

Sonic x Shadow Generations

We've seen a lot of promotional materials for the upcoming Sonic x Shadow Generations already, but this time we got something truly unique: a Keanu Reeves reveal. That's right, an upcoming add-on to the game will star Keanu Reeves' movie version of Shadow the Hedgehog in his own separate mission. This update will launch Friday, December 12, 2024, and will be free to all players who own the Digital Deluxe version of the game.

Fantasian Neo Dimension

In case you need reminding, you should be super excited about Fantasian Neo Dimension on PS5. The game features the work of both the creator and famed composer of the Final Fantasy series, and it also makes some brilliant tweaks to the classic JRPG formula. In this latest update, we learned that Fantasian will launch on PS5 Thursday, December 5, 2024 — make sure you don't miss it!

Lunar Remastered Collection

The first two games in the Lunar series — both popular PS1 RPGs back in the day — are coming to PS5 and PS4 in early 2025. The collection brings back Lunar Silver Star Story Complete and Lunar 2 Eternal Blue Complete with widescreen, reworked art, and more. Looks like the perfect opportunity to catch up on some beloved RPG classics!

Metro Awakening

Probably the best-looking PSVR2 game we've seen so far, this full VR adventure for PS5 goes back in the timeline to tell the tale of Khan (or Serdar) — a fan favorite character from the Metro series. Like all good Metro games, it looks dark, creepy, and action-packed, and we're sure all of that feels doubly true while wearing a PSVR2 headset.

Hitman World of Assassination for PSVR2

  • Check out those Hitman 3 trophies — they're the starting trophy set for Hitman World of Assassination
  • Release Date: December 2024
  • Platforms: PS5
Finally, we have a release window for Hitman's much-anticipated PSVR2 release. The latest footage for Hitman World of Assassination PSVR2 shows us missions from all three recent Hitman games and how you'll navigate them with your fists, guns, blow darts, poison pills, and whatever else you have to hand. It looks bewildering, tense, and hilarious — everything you want from a Hitman experience.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Shredder's Revenge Radical Reptiles DLC

The second of two shadow drops during the State of Play presentation, this new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Shredder's Revenge DLC lets you play as Mondo Gecko and Mona Lisa — two names we haven't heard in a very long time here at TrueTrophies. Plus, a free update for the game also brings a new remixed soundtrack that you can access right now!

Alan Wake 2 The Lake House

Alan Wake 2's The Lake House DLC brings back the Federal Bureau of Control — the secretive government agency you'll recall from Remedy's 2019 game Control. So far, there are still a lot of question marks about what we'll get up to in this DLC, but expect scares, paranormal happenings, and more of the cool ideas we loved in both Control and Alan Wake 2.

Stellar Blade Nier Automata DLC

Stellar Blade is getting a photo mode as a free PS5 update later in 2024, but also look out for the much-anticipated crossover with Square Enix's Nier Automata coming later this year too. So far, all we've seen is Nier Automata's 2B hanging out in the world of Stellar Blade — hopefully there will be some fun story ideas weaved into the experience too!

Astro Bot Speedrun DLC

Astro Bot's Speedrun levels have been revealed and they'll bring more characters from PS5 games to save, including Stellar Blade's Eve and some gormless troops from Helldivers 2. The levels look tough and it seems the bots won't unlock unless you beat the level as fast as you can, which is an exciting twist!

Lego Fortnite Split-screen Update

  • Lego Fortnite is doesn't have its own trophies, but check out those Fortnite trophies
  • Release Date: October 2024
  • Platforms: PS5, PS4
Lastly, Lego Fortnite is getting a free split-screen update on PS5 and PS4, letting 2 players enjoy building houses and battling beasts in the same place. Plus, there's a unique Fortnite PS5 DualSense controller apparently on the way, so if you're a major Fortnite fan, look out for that one.

That's all 23 of the new PS5 games and updates announced at the State of Play in September 2024! Did any games catch your eye? Do you reckon we might see titles like Ghost of Yotei and Monster Hunter Wilds on our best PS5 games list soon? Let us know your thoughts down in the comments below!
