We've taken the games from 2023 for PS5 and PS4 and used your community ratings to rank them!Kes Eylers-Stephenson Published 30 Dec 2023 FollowtopicsPlayStation PlusPlayStation 5PlayStation 4Kes Eylers-Stephenson These are all the PS Plus Extra and Premium 2023 games lineups ranked. In polls every month, we've been collecting rankings from 1 (lowest) to 5 (highest) of each of the lineups from January 2023 to December 2023. A few have made our best PlayStation Plus games list and many have fallen away, but all are appreciated!Every month of Extra and Premium games on PS Plus rankedThe best month of PS Plus Extra and Premium was February 2023 with a score of 4 out of 5The worst month of PS Plus Extra and Premium was November 2023 with a rating of 2.43 out of 5The average PS Plus Extra and Premium lineup was rated 3.39 out of 5 — higher than the PS Plus Essential monthly games ranked on averageEvery month, those polls come to ask the TrueTrophies community to rank the PS Plus Extra and Premium games lineup from 1-5. We've ranked those scores from best to worst. However, we only started these rankings for the PS Plus Extra and Premium tiers later in the year, so we've filled in the January and February 2023 scores with where we think they fit in.Teardown PS Plus12. November 2023Game highlights: Teardown, PaRappa The Rappa 2, Dragon's Dogma Dark ArisenAverage Score: 2.43According to the voters here on TrueTrophies, November 2023 was the worst month for PS Plus Extra and Premium games this year. Featuring the fun day-one inclusion of Teardown and superb RPG Dragon's Dogma for PS4, the worst month for PS Plus Extra at least has redeeming qualities. Beyond those two games, the game's lineup is harrowingly empty of anything interesting beyond Dead Island Riptide. However, the dire PS Plus Premium lineup wipes away any marks for the two great games. PaRappa The Rappa 2 and Jet Moto trophies galore led the line, which are superb additions, but not exactly enough to justify the cost of entry at this point. I think this score is a reflection of players getting to the end of the year and just being fed up with Sony's sub-par efforts with Premium. PS Plus Extra, Premium ranked11. January 2023Game highlights: Back 4 Blood, Devil May Cry 5, and Syphon Filter 3Our Score: 3.13Shrug your shoulders with a 'meh' at this one. Rated as slightly above average by the voters, there are nuggets of gold in here. In particular, Staff Writer Lee's favorite game Devil May Cry 5 is a genuinely superb addition to the service well-deserving of praise. There is also something deeply satisfying about getting Syphon Filter 3 to wrap up the mainline games on PS Plus Premium. However, live-service-esque games like Back 4 Blood are played intensely but the general growing population, but I don't think they resonate with many core gamers.October 202310. October 2023Game highlights: Gotham Knights, Disco Elysium The Final Cut, and Alien IsolationAverage Score: 3.25Honestly, October 2023 is a great marker for the kind of games that will probably show up in a baseline month. The PS Plus Extra offerings are reasonable, with PS Plus being a good place for Batman fans to check out the mediocre Gotham Knights. Disco Elysium and Alien Isolation make up for it by being fantastic games. The PS Plus Premium offerings of PSP fighting games Tekken 6 and SoulCalibur Broken Destiny, as well as PSP's silly minigame spin-off Ape Escape Academy, are truly poor.August 20239. August 2023Game highlights: Sea of Stars, Moving Out 2, and Pursuit Force Extreme JusticeAverage Score: 3.26I don't know about you, but finding August 2023 in the ninth position is a shock. I thought old-school Sea of Stars was one of the best PS Plus games of the year. Alongside the day one Moving Out 2, that seems good enough for much higher to me. Behind those games is the very good Judgment, the Yakuza detective spin-off. Then PS Plus Premium rocks up with the fun gem Pursuit Force Extreme Justice (with trophies!), but undoes that hard work with the weird sub-par PSP spin-offs of MediEvil Resurrection and Ape Escape On The Loose. An odd month.July 20238. July 2023Game highlights: It Takes Two, Sniper Elite 5, and Twisted MetalAverage Score: 3.29July 2023 brought a Twisted Metal-themed month to PS Plus Premium, with PS1 ports of the first game and Twisted Metal 2 World Tour. Great stuff. That's how you do PS Plus Premium, Sony. On the PS Plus Extra side, though, GOTY It Takes Two is fun but can't float the dead weight of much less exciting titles like Sniper Elite 5 and World War Z. I'm a bit shocked this finished marginally higher than August 2023!PS Plus September 20237. September 2023Game highlights: Star Ocean First Departure R, 13 Sentinels Aegis Rim, and Civilisation VIAverage Score: 3.32Another PS Plus Premium month that felt wasted by Sony, here. The big draw this month was that we got a boatload of Star Ocean games to play. PS Plus Extra also has PS4 games in the series aplenty, backed up by modern classics like 13 Sentinels Aegis Rim and Civilisation VI. Not a bad month for Star Ocean fans, not a bad month for those with acquired tastes, but maybe not one to remember for the general PS Plus Premium player.December 20236. December 2023Game highlights: GTA V, Stranger of Paradise Final Fantasy Origin, Metal HellsingerAverage Score: 3.34At the middle of the pack, we have December 2023 being shot up the rankings by GTA V. The open-world game is ubiquitous in most players' libraries at this point, so why not plop it on PS Plus too? Other games like Metal Hellsinger and Stranger of Paradise Final Fantasy Origin are great PS Plus games because they are odd titles you might not play if not for the service. PS Plus Premium got Mega Man and Thrillville... I mean, sure?PS Plus Extra, Premium ranked5. April 2023Game highlights: Kena Bridge of Spirits, Doom, and Sackboy A Big AdventureAverage Score: 3.44Our first month above the middle of the pack deserves its place. We love Kena Bridge of Spirits over here at TrueTrophies, but backing that up with Sackboy A Big Adventure is great stuff (though, it had come to PS Plus Essential just before). Old Doom games dominated PS Plus Premium, which is fine we suppose. Elsewhere, Bethesda just added its entire catalog including Wolfenstein and The Evil Within. A good month of games here.PS Plus Extra, Premium ranked4. June 2023Game highlights: Far Cry 6, Deus Ex Mankind Divided, and Rogue Legacy 2Average Score: 3.61June 2023 showed us that PS Plus Extra was alive and kicking with big games as Far Cry 6 joined the service. Ubisoft's absurdly big open-world FPS has plenty of fans and will have drawn plenty of players into PS Plus Extra. Then, we have games like Deus Ex Mankind Divided, Inscryption, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Shredder's Revenge which are just screaming quality. You know what? Why not have the superb Rogue Legacy 2 on day one, as well? Plus, Killzone Liberation and Coded Soul on PS Plus Premium is exactly the kind of game that needs porting. That makes for a strong month by anyone's books. Sony should look at this as a template to match expectations month-to-month, I think.PS Plus Extra received Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart in May 20233. May 2023Game highlights: Pursuit Force, Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart, and HumanityAverage Score: 3.75Sometimes, you need an attention grabber. May 2023 did that with Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart on PS Plus Extra. No one is going to turn that down, are they? Puzzler Humanity came on day one to the service too and was a firm favorite here at TrueTrophies. Plus, I love the inclusion of Pursuit Force from the PSP era on PS Plus Premium. That was another gem that needed saving from the hardware and Sony did the job here, unlike the lowly months ranked between 12th and 6th.Tchia is hitting PS Plus Extra next month as a day one exclusive2. March 2023Game highlights: Tchia, GhostWire Tokyo, and Syphon Filter Dark MirrorAverage Score: 3.8Boom, Tchia. A hyped indie coming day one on the service is exactly the kind of thing PS Plus Extra needs to live if it wants to compete with Xbox Game Pass. I also love that GhostWire Tokyo got a chance to shine this month as the former PS5 exclusive mightn't have impressed with sales at launch, but got an opportunity on PS Plus. Also, more Syphon Filter wasn't exciting his month, but it did reward PS Plus Premium players who had been playing all the games as they were delivered month-to-month. Good stuff from March 2023.1. February 2023Game highlights: Horizon Forbidden West, Resident Evil 7 Biohazard, The Quarry, and The Legend of DragoonOur Score: 4February 2023 was the best month for PS Plus Extra and Premium games this year. We've rated this one the best ourselves because there was no poll given for February 2023, but we think you'll all agree that it was of unbeatable overall quality at both tiers. I mean, PS Plus Extra got Horizon Forbidden West, for crying out loud, a game that I said in our review was "one of the most beautiful games ever made." I mean, that's before we've even got into the meat of the lineup! You've got the superb Resident Evil 7 Biohazard leading the charge on the other games, but it's not the meer infantry that RE7 leads. You've got stalwarts like Borderlands 3 to contend with, commanders like The Quarry to quench, commandos like Outriders to plunder, and even burly marines like Tekken 7 to overcome. That is an outrageously good lineup, matched by PS Plus Premium offering The Legend of Dragoon and Wild Arms 2 with trophies.Throw in hidden gems like The Forgotten City and Scarlet Nexus and every other month can just throw the towel in. This is unrivaled quality across both of the higher tiers. Cower before the best month of PS Plus Extra and Premium in 2023!That wraps up a list of every PS Plus Extra and Premium game from the year ranked!
