PS Plus August 2024’s lineup gets surprise swap for some subscribers

The Essential lineup for PS Plus in August 2024 has swapped in Deliver Us Mars in certain regions as a replacement for indie soulslike Ender Lilies.

The new PlayStation Plus August 2024 monthly games have arrived, although for some subscribers, one of those games isn't what they expected at all. It turns out that PS Plus August 2024 has swapped in Deliver Us Mars for Ender Lilies in certain regions, which means some subscribers will be hunting those Deliver Us Mars trophies this month instead.

PS Plus swaps Ender Lilies for Deliver Us Mars in select regions

The PS Plus Essential games for August 2024 went live on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, and just a little later, we spotted some users on Reddit reporting that Deliver Us Mars was available for PS Plus subscribers in the Middle East region.

We've since been able to confirm that PS Plus subscribers in the United Arab Emirates/Middle East region and the Saudi Arabia region have received 2023's Deliver Us Mars instead of 2021's Ender Lilies Quietus of the Knights. So far, these are the only two regions affected by the monthly game swap.

Sony hasn't directly commented on why these two regions have received a different PS Plus game from the rest of the world, although it's most likely connected to the fact that Ender Lilies isn't available in either region. While the popular PS4 indie soulslike was announced for release in UAE and Saudi Arabia and is still visible on the PS Store, it's not available for purchase.

So, instead, these subscribers will receive the more recent PS5 and PS4 release of Deliver Us Mars, which will likely turn a few PS Plus subscribers green with envy. Not that Ender Lilies isn't a much-beloved game in its own right, but the Deliver Us series continues to have a strong reputation and fanbase online, and I'm sure many Western subscribers would love to have received it via PS Plus this month.

Hopefully PS Plus subscribers will get Deliver Us Mars some other month, now that Sony seemingly has it ready and waiting to join the service.
