PlayStation and LEGO — three crossover PS5 games we'd love to play With a PlayStation and LEGO crossover game reported in Horizon, we've thought of three other legacy IP that would make for awesome PS5 games in blocky form!Kes Eylers-Stephenson Published 21 May 2024 FollowtopicsPlayStation 5Kes Eylers-Stephenson With reports of Horizon Zero Dawn getting a LEGO game for its growing stellar lineup of PS5 kids games, we've been thinking about Sony's rich legacy brands from the PS1, PS2, and beyond that might also fit the bill. Many would be well worth bringing back: so here are our three suggestions of PlayStation and LEGO crossover games.Sony should make these three franchises LEGO crossover gamesLast week, there were some new LEGO Horizon rumors that I initially thought might just be new LEGO sets. However, the original tweet from Tom Henderson was later expanded on in a full article that suggested there is a LEGO Horizon Adventures video game in the works for PS5. It sounds like this might be a remake of the first entry in the franchise in the LEGO theme for PS5.That got the TrueTrophies team and me thinking about PlayStation franchises that deserve a LEGO game. There are plenty of PS1, PS2, and PS3-era IPs that seem dead and buried that we think would make for awesome returns in LEGO form. As long as the franchise likely won't make a return in 'normal form' with a new entry, we think it's eligible. That's a long list indeed! So, here are three PlayStation brands that deserve LEGO crossover games.MediEvilFirst Game: MediEvil (PS1, 1998)Last Entry: MediEvil (Remake) (2019, PS4)Dream LEGO set: Hall of HeroesI think MediEvil and LEGO are a match made in heaven. The series' spoofy comedy-infused gothic themes are primed for children and adults alike in LEGO form. You can picture Sir Daniel Fortesque as a Minifigure with his one eye looking utterly iconic. Plus, his tale of anti-heroics seems like a ready-made LEGO adventure. Can you imagine the small details, too? Goblets, tombstones, skeletons, and castles — all present in real-life sets? Wonderful. Then you have the gameplay of the PS1 original and PS4 remaster. Simple hack-and-slash mechanics were particularly criticized across both versions of the original game, but the simpler gameplay of the LEGO games would fit perfectly. While the LEGO games have deviated away from MediEvil's platforming-style levels into open worlds, I think that could fit well in exploring beyond Gallowmere as well. Doing so using a destructive blocky interpretation would be interesting to see. Plus, I don't think we're getting another entry soon, so why not make a LEGO reinterpretation?Gravity RushFirst Game: Gravity Rush (PS Vita, 2012)Last Entry: Gravity Rush 2 (PS4, 2017)Dream LEGO set: Kat's Sewer BaseWe're going to start by saying that Gravity Rush 2 seemed to be the last of the franchise until a TV show based on the IP was put into production. The more I think about it, though, the more I think that seeing Gravity Rush in LEGO would be wicked. Seeing Kat as a Minifigure floating around pulling up blocks from the environment and hurling them at weird, blocky versions of the Nevi would be so much fun.Mostly, though, I'd be in it for a LEGO interpretation of the interlinked floating metropolis' of Hecksville, Auldnoir, Vendecentre, and more. That industrial punk atmosphere made from towering LEGO construction would be beyond cool, in my opinion. Plus, it'd be awesome to see how a LEGO game would handle that iconic cel-shaded anime style that the series is known for — would LEGO nod to it, or would it just go full-blocky? Fat PrincessFirst Game: Fat Princess (PS3, 2009)Last Entry: Fat Princess Adventures (PS4, 2015)Dream LEGO set: Fat Princess' Throne RoomFat Princess is a franchise that will never see the light of day again. There would no doubt be too much controversy around a fresh launch. However, with a bit of rebranding and a LEGO theme, I think it'd make for an awesome revival made from blocks. In the PS3 original, 32-player lobbies would compete to rescue their princess from the rival team. At the same time, you are trying to feed the princess you've kidnapped cake to make her harder to carry. It was utterly bonkers, particularly with character classes like Pirate, Ninja, and Giant introduced in the DLC. Now, picture that carnage playing out in a LEGO world with minifigures and the total destructibility of a blocky world. Frankly, I think I'm a genius. I'd want that game right now. I wouldn't even mind if it was a live service with crossovers from all of the other LEGO franchises. Take all my cake! Those are our mad ideas for new LEGO games based on PlayStation franchises. I know LEGO Fat Princess would be on our best PS5 multiplayer games (because I'd put it there). What PlayStation franchises do you want in LEGO form?
