The PlayStation Chart of the most popular games on PS5 and PS4 this week has given us insight into the future with Metaphor ReFantazio demo's PS5 player count. With our sample of 3.1 million PSN accounts (courtesy of GameInsights, using a range of data from beyond TrueTrophies accounts), we can see just how many people might be ready to start collecting Metaphor ReFantazio trophies on release!

Metaphor: ReFantazio demo proves incredibly popular on PS5

  • Metaphor ReFantazio is an upcoming JRPG from a former Persona series developers
  • Release date: Friday, October 11, 2024
  • Platforms: PS5, PS4, PC, Xbox Series X|S
Metaphor ReFantazio is coming to PS5 and PS4 in about two weeks as of writing, but players are already very excited. You can see it in the numbers this week, where the JRPG was the #30 most popular tracked title on PSN. This little taster is the prologue of the game and — if you do choose to get involved — then your save will be ported over to the full release.
The promise of Metaphor ReFantazio has got players in through the door early, then. If the mere demo is collecting enough players to rank it in popularity alongside the top 40 mainstays like Astro's Playroom and Fall Guys, I think we can set expectations nice and high for the full release. I'm confident that Atlus will have high expectations of this game too!

Across the rest of the chart, you can see that EA Sports FC 25 has confidently stepped into #3 as the previous year's iteration has dropped off into #4. From here on out, you can expect FC 24 to slide away and, after Christmas, probably disappear from the chart completely. The question now is: can FC 25 compete with Call of Duty and Fortnite?

I think we should acknowledge that slow slide of two recent single-player favorites that came to PS5. Astro Bot is now in #10 place (down two spots), but for a 15-hour game that came out over two weeks ago, that's a tidy result! The same logic applies for Black Myth Wukong just behind in the #11 position — as a single-player game player retention isn't the goal so seeing it around these spots is super impressive!
So, I know Astro Bot has made it amongst the best PS5 games and wholly deserves its spot — but is anything else sticking out to you? Let us know in the comments below, TrueTrophies analysts!
