Jak and Daxter's PS2 platinum trophy might get delisted soon

If you haven't had the chance to pick up those Jak and Daxter The Precursor's Legacy PS4 trophies just yet, fair warning: you probably won’t see them on our PS2 games on PS5 list for much longer. Sony has announced a new version of the PS2 classic — one that might see Jak and Daxter The Precursor's Legacy's PS2 trophies getting delisted in early December 2024.

PS Plus Premium is getting three huge PS2 games in December 2024, one of which will be Naughty Dog's classic Jak and Daxter The Precursor's Legacy. While there is a version of this game already available on PS4 and PS Plus Premium, this new version looks set to arrive with updated emulation features and a new trophy list on Tuesday, December 10, 2024.

That's great news for most PS Plus Premium subscribers and fans of the classic PS2 game, but it also presents ardent trophy hunters with a possible tight deadline. If Sony handles this version of Jak and Daxter in the same way as it handled the 2016 PS4 port of Siren, this version of Jak and Daxter The Precursor's Legacy might get delisted on December 10, 2024.

Once delisted, PS5 and PS4 players will lose access to the 2017 port of Jak and Daxter and its PS2 platinum trophy unless they've already purchased a digital copy of the game or they've downloaded it previously via PS Plus Premium. Those who fail to do so by December 10, 2024, will most likely lose their chance to hunt this PS2 trophy list for good.

Of course, there's no guarantee that this is exactly what Sony will do. However, based on what happened with Siren, we'd be fools not to give PS2 trophy hunters the opportunity to grab this before it's potentially gone. Plus, there is at least one easy way to secure your digital copy of the game for good if you act quick.

The new version launches ahead of PS Plus Extra's December 2024 update.

If you simply stream or download the existing PS4 version of Jak and Daxter before the deadline, you'll be able to hunt its platinum trophy at your leisure after its delisted. So, if you have an active subscription, there's a free way to secure an easy PS2 platinum trophy for a rainy day.
