Horizon Zero Dawn will have a progression transfer to PS5, which likely means that the Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered trophies maybe some of the simplest you've ever come across if you've played it already. Mind you, the open-world game already has an easy platinum trophy!

Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered will probably have an auto-popping platinum on PS5

  • Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered is a graphical and performance-focused remaster
  • Release Date: Thursday, October 31, 2024
  • Platforms: PS5
Over on PlayStation Blog, Guerrilla Games director Jan-Bart van Beek confirmed: "We’ve made sure that your old Horizon Zero Dawn save games will work; so this is a great opportunity to dive into New Game+ or get back into Photo Mode with all your previously unlocked outfits and customizations."
Available to players with a PS4 version of Horizon Zero Dawn for a discounted price of $9.99, this PS5 remaster promises to bring the graphical fidelity level up to the impressive standard of the sequel Horizon Forbidden West while running at 60fps. However, with the news of progression porting, it looks like we're going to get a simple second platinum trophy, too.

In other PlayStation Studios remasters with progression porting — like Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered, Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut, and The Last of Us Part II Remastered — when your save is loaded in, you tend to unlock all the trophies you've already earned in the PS4 version of the game. Generally, this means you can pop a second platinum with the minimum effort of possibly collecting a few untracked miscellaneous trophies, like in Uncharted Legacy of Thieves.

Will the platinum trophy automatically unlock in Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered?

With progression porting confirmed, I'm pretty confident in saying that Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered's platinum trophy will have auto-pop enabled. However, you should wait until release to 100% confirm it. Guerrilla Games may make subtle changes to the base game list that mean only a few trophies unlock — though, that seems unlikely.

Will the New Game Plus trophies automatically unlock in Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered?

Unless you can import a new game plus save, I suspect those Horizon Zero Dawn New Game+ DLC trophies may remain unearned if you port your base game save over. I'm not quite sure how Guerrilla Games will handle it because auto-unlock doesn't work for NG+ in Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered and van Beek did say specifically that the developer wants us to enjoy the game again in NG+.

Will The Frozen Wilds DLC trophies automatically unlock in Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered?

As for The Frozen Wilds trophies — which are spread across two packs for Quests and Feats — I suspect that these will pop automatically. So long as your progress is tied to the base game save and not NG+, you'll collect both sets. That being said, miscellaneous trophies as featured in the Feats list might not be directly tracked, so be prepared to possibly head back to The Cut and do one or two additional activities.

So, that's our current low-down on how easy that Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered platinum will be on PS5. Check out how I feel about all the main games, spin-offs, and DLC in our Horizon games ranked!
