When Supergiant Games' Hades eventually landed on PS5 and PS4 back in 2021, it was quickly hailed as one of the best PS5 indie games ever. That's why it really comes as no surprise then that the game's sequel, Hades 2, is similarly generating big buzz on PC in Early Access. That said, it would be great if Hades 2's PS5 release date got confirmed in the near future — us PlayStation owners are itching with anticipation for this one.

Hades 2 will not be coming to PlayStation in 2024

At the time of writing, there's only one thing we know for certain about this game's future on PlayStation: Hades 2 will release on PS5 in 2025 at the absolute earliest. Even that vague update relies on the assumption that Hades 2 will launch on PS5 at all, although a PS5 release hasn't been confirmed. That just goes to show how little has been revealed about Hades 2's launch plans beyond its ongoing Early Access launch on PC in 2024.
We can at least rule out a 2024 PS5 launch for Hades 2 thanks to an FAQ answer on Supergiant Games' website. On the site, the developers write: "We do not have a release date set for the completed Hades II v1.0, and expect to be in Early Access at least through the end of 2024." In short: Hades 2 will remain locked to PC as its sole platform for the rest of 2024.

It's thanks to another line in the same FAQ that we can make an assumption that Hades 2 will launch on PS5, as the developers wrote the following: "We expect for Hades II to eventually be available for PC, Mac, and console platforms (though cannot confirm which platforms yet)." This response also potentially opens the door for a PS4 launch of Hades 2, although it really is entirely speculation at this point.

We feel safe in assuming Hades 2 will eventually come to PS5 for a couple of reasons. One is because the original Hades launched on pretty much any device it could fit onto, including both the PS5 and PS4. Another reason is because Sony continues to have some form of relationship with Supergiant Games, with the PlayStation maker having boosted Hades' presence via the PlayStation Blog and even more recently via a unique PlayStation Stars campaign.
There's also the fact that the PS5 is one of the most popular gaming consoles around right now. That said, it did take the original Hades nearly a full year to launch on PlayStation consoles after first releasing on PC, Mac, and Nintendo Switch — it's very possible that Hades 2 could see a similar staggered release on PS5 as well.

So, as of right now, that's all we know. Hopefully, we'll learn more about Hades 2's potential release on PS5 as the game's Early Access period on PC rolls on in 2024. In the meantime, I guess we can just continue to collect Hades trophies. Are you eager to hunt down Hades 2's platinum trophy at some point? Let us know down in the comments below.
