Grand Theft Auto VI trophies could still be a ways off, so it might be a good idea to start eyeing up some other upcoming PS5 games to rave about. The latest update on Rockstar's open-world sequel comes courtesy of an earnings call from publisher Take-Two, which indicates that GTA VI won't arrive in the next fiscal year, which runs from April 2024 to March 2025. That means the earliest we are likely to see GTA VI's PS5 release window is late 2025.

Grand Theft Auto VI has slipped to next fiscal year, analysts say

It should be noted that we don't know for sure exactly when Grand Theft Auto VI's PS5 release date will be yet, as this release window is largely the speculation of industry analysts Nick McKay and Michael Pachter of Wedbush Securities. The pair spotted that Take-Two is expecting bookings of $7 billion, which is below its initial comments of $8 billion in May.
"The drop makes us almost certain that GTA VI will not be releasing next FY," said the report (via VGC). "With that said, we have no reason to believe the game has slipped out of calendar [year] 2025, but it is reasonable to assume that it will launch later in the year."

The sequel has been in the works for over a decade at this point, with GTA V having turned ten in 2023. There are several Grand Theft Auto games available on PS5 currently, including GTA V and its online component, as well as the much-maligned Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition, all of which offer their own trophies to collect.

Details about the upcoming sequel are scarce, but in the meantime, we can spend the next year or so poring over the GTA VI trailer, featuring crocodiles, twerking, and lots of Florida men. What are your hopes and expectations for the return to Vice City? Will it be one of the best PS5 games ever? Let us know what you'd like to see from Grand Theft Auto VI in the comments below.
