If you've collected all of those Final Fantasy XVI trophies, you'll be familiar with all of the game's monstrous Eikons except one — the mysteriously absent Leviathan. Well, looks like we'll find out what happened now that the Final Fantasy XVI Leviathan DLC has been confirmed. Plus, with the new Echoes of the Fallen DLC for FFXVI available now on the PS Store, it looks like one of the best PS5 games is about to get even better.

Final Fantasy XVI's new chapter is available on PS5 right now

Announced in a trailer at The Game Awards 2023 (embedded below), Final Fantasy XVI's two DLC both got names, details, and one of them even got a surprise release. The first of the two, Echoes of the Fallen, is now available for purchase on the PS Store and offers a few new chapters and boss fights for Clive and pals to contend with. The second DLC, The Rising Tide, will launch in Spring 2024 and will feature everybody's favorite missing Eikon, Leviathan.
While the Final Fantasy XVI DLC timeline still remains a little fuzzy, the appearance of "Leviathan the Lost" in the trailer for The Rising Tide seems to confirm that the second DLC will deal with the Eikon's disappearance. Likely connected to the destruction of the eighth Mothercrystal 1500 years before the events of the story, it'll certainly be interesting to find out how on Valisthea Clive ends up finding and facing Leviathan after all these years.

Both expansions can be snapped up in a Final Fantasy XVI Expansion Pass which is now available on the PS Store. Will you be returning to FFXVI for the new DLC? It was one of my games of the year 2023, so obviously I'll be jumping in ASAP, but let us know your thoughts down in the comments below.
