Death Stranding 2 seems poised to baffle us again at The Game Awards Hideo Kojima has seemingly teased Death Stranding 2 for The Game Awards 2023. The PS5 exclusive is set to help fill Sony's sparse lineup for this generation.Kes Eylers-Stephenson Published 27 Nov 2023 FollowtopicsRumourPlayStation 5Kes Eylers-Stephenson Bring on the Death Stranding 2 trophies! Hideo Kojima is at it again as he has seemingly teased Death Stranding 2 for The Game Awards 2023. With the lineup of PS5 exclusives looking sparse, the continuation of the weird hiking delivery service game about life, death, and everything in-between is going to be a big deal for Sony's console when it eventually releases.Death Stranding 2 possibly teased for The Game Awards 2023As noticed by Okami on X, Death Stranding 2 director and creator Hideo Kojima tweeted images of him working on a sound mix simply titled "Mix." Nothing to see, right? Well, so it would have been if not for the official The Game Awards account tweeting in response with some curious eyes emoji. However, Kami noticed that the emoji eyes were later deleted, suggesting that The Game Awards might have given the game away and was trying to hide its tracks. I think we are all on the same page here — 2023 is the year when emojis make news. Wild times.Death Stranding 2 teases make a Lea Seydoux's baby curiousHowever, give those creepy eyes context and it adds up a bit more. For years now, Kojima and The Game Awards host Geoff Keighley have shared a special relationship that culminated in Keighley's shows getting the trailers for the auteur's games. Death Stranding 2 was announced at The Game Awards 2022, so it'd make sense that another trailer might line up at this year's event given we haven't heard anything for the second game since then.Perhaps a release date announcement is due? The team has been working on the title for a while, so that'd line up with a predicted late 2024 or early 2025 release date. However, there are multiple Kojima projects in development. Kojima does have a podcast and sound-mixing lines up with that too. So, pinch some salt and don't hang your hat on DS2 showing up for certain — though it does look very likely.I think that Death Stranding is one of the best PS4 games, so any news we get of the sequel would be seriously exciting to me. In the 2022 announcement, we got a tease of Lea Seydoux's character Fragile having a baby, more weird chest holders for babies, Norman Reedus' not-so-baby-faced character Sam Porter Bridges, and a bloke with a guitar and a Slipknot mask (sans baby). If DS2 can bring the same level of adventuring as we saw in the first game, I'm well in.If you aren't caught up yet, make sure you check our Sean's Death Stranding Director's Cut review.
