Astro’s Playroom devs threaten to make free updates harder

Astro's Playroom's next free updates might be much harder as Team Asobi has seemingly decided that we unlocked those last two free trophies too quickly.

If you enjoyed collecting those Astro's Playroom trophies on PS5, then you should know that the hunt isn't over just yet. Every month between now and Astro Bot's PS5 release date, there'll be a new trophy to unlock in Astro's Playroom. However, it seems Team Asobi's last two riddles were solved a little too easily, so the next two Astro's Playroom free updates might be much harder.

Astro's Playroom DLC trophies are about to get even trickier

In a recent update on the PlayStation Blog, Team Asobi Studio Head Nicholas Doucet gave us a surprisingly ominous warning: "We will be back soon with 2 more riddles on the run-up to the release of Astro Bot. And by the looks of it, we might have to make the next ones even harder."

Now, while I might have found the Astro's Playroom Returnal trophy solution for July 2024 rather straightforward, I know that not everyone figured this one out easily at all. Plus, the Astro's Playroom riddle for Bloodborne character Lady Maria was also particularly fiendish. So, it's safe to say I have no idea what Doucet expects from these poor Astro Bot fans.

We already know that the upcoming Astro Bot will have some very hard levels to test more mature PS5 fans, so clearly Team Asobi knows that the odd brutal challenge can help elevate an already great game. That said, are we sure we want this difficulty bleeding into Astro's Playroom?

Astro Returnal trophyThe reward is sweet though.

I mean, up until now the free PS5 tie-in game has always been seen as such a light, fluffy little game. However, now that light fluff belies a darkness — a cute chibi robot adventure that now quietly hides its most fiendish puzzles away from prying eyes. Are we really willing to pay so dark a price for a few Astro's Playroom DLC trophies?

The answer is "Yes, absolutely" — sorry if it felt like that's not where I was leaning. I love these little riddles, I think they do add something to one of the best PS5 games around, and I hope we see more like them in the upcoming Astro Bot release. Let us know in the comments what you think of these twisted Astro Bot riddles potentially getting even harder!
