Astro Bot platinum trophy guide
- Number of Trophies: 44 (8 of which are hidden)
- Time required for Platinum Unlock: 10-15 hours
- Overview: No difficulty-related trophies and no missable trophies
Below, we've listed three big tips to help your wrap your head around Astro Bot's platinum trophy on PS5. These tips differ from your usual step-by-step walkthrough by dividing all of Astro Bot's trophies into three main sections: Story Playthrough, Post-Story Clean-Up, and Crash Site Finale.
The goal with this Astro Bot guide is to help you have as relaxed a playthrough as possible, safe in the knowledge that you're not missing any important trophies. That's why it's important to point out that there are no missable trophies in Astro Bot. After beating the story's final boss, you can go back and unlock any trophies you skipped at your own pace.
Spoiler Note: This guide will reveal the titles and descriptions of Astro Bot's hidden trophies, but we won't reveal any Special Bots not shown in promotional materials until Tip 2. At no point in this guide will we spoil the identity of the cameo related to the gold trophy "The Golden Bot."
It's also worth pointing out that you can unlock most of Astro Bot's trophies in any order you want. The tips below are only meant to help frame when you should expect to unlock a certain trophy, but the vast majority can be unlocked (like any trophies related to finding all the bots in a nebula) as you play the story. If that's the way you prefer to play this kind of game, feel free to mix up the advice below!
With that said, here are our three Astro Bot platinum trophy tips.
Get your Memory Cards ready!
Tip 1: Unlock these trophies during your Story Playthrough
Key trophies to unlock: “One Bot Down..." (bronze), "A Puzzling Start" (bronze), "Licence To Spend" (silver), "First Prize" (bronze), "Unforgettable!" (silver), "Um Jammer Slammy" (bronze), "What Is He Saying?" (bronze), "Double Dug-in" (bronze), "Solid Performance" (silver), "Time To Cash In!" (bronze), "Doing It For You" (silver), "Keep It Cool" (silver), "Take Cover!" (silver), "A Lot To Process" (gold).
Astro Bot's story sees the titular robot trek across five main nebula in search of Ship Parts, missing bots, and the alien villain Nebulax who tears your PS5 Mothership apart at the start of the game. As you complete each nebula, you'll unlock a Ship Part, each of which unlocks a silver trophy.
Before the final battle with Nebulax, you'll need to find at least 200 missing bots on your adventure. You'll find most of these bots casually as you play, but you may also need to replay certain levels to finds bots you missed the first time around.
Prepare to face off against this Space Jerk.
Luckily, there are no late-game power-ups or upgrades for Astro Bot that stop you from finding every bot in the early game. If you don't find all the missing bots in a stage on your first playthrough, feel free to jump back in and try again — we never found a single instance in the game where the player was prevented from finding all of the bots in a single run of a level.
Also, on your second playthrough of a stage, you can pay 200 coins to unlock a special Hint Bot. This bird-like bot flies alongside you as you work your way through the stage and beeps in the direction of secrets whenever you pass something by. The Hint Bot will point you in the general direction of missing bots, Jigsaw Pieces, and Secret Portals.
The Hint Bot!
Note that you don't need to find any Jigsaw Pieces in order to beat Astro Bot's story, although you will definitely pick up enough to automatically unlock the "A Puzzle Start" and "Licence to Spend" trophies before you hit the final boss. Unless you want to track these down earlier, you can save the Jigsaw Pieces until Tip 2 below.
Secret Portals, on the other hand, are definitely useful to find if you want to hit that 200 missing bots requirement. These portals take you to bonus levels in the Lost Nebula, each of which comes loaded with more hidden bots to find. According to our numbers, you can just about hit the 200 missing bot limit without ever finding one of these portals, but it'll be close!
Splash his face to unlock "What Is He Saying?"
Easy level-specific trophies to unlock during Story Playthrough
As you work towards finishing your Story Playthrough, you can unlock a few easy bonus trophies in specific stages. In the Construction Derby stage, you can unlock the "Um Jammer Slammy" by bashing a basketball through a hoop halfway through the level. In Trunk of Funk, while the big tree is singing, keep spraying him with water to unlock "What is He Saying?"
There's also the "Time to Cash In!" trophy, which can be easily unlocked in the Slo-Mo Casino stage by using your time powers to rig the slot machines. Finally, there's "Double Dug-In," which you can unlock during the Wormy Passage stage by killing two Wormys (the worm-looking enemies) at the same time using one of each of your frog fists to drag them out.
Once you find 200 hidden bots and beat the final boss, you'll unlock the gold "A Lot To Process" trophy. Congratulations! Now you can move onto Tip 2 and start cleaning up the rest of the galaxy.
You need to unlock Photo Mode before you can get the "Strike A Pose!" trophy
Tip 2: Track down these trophies during the Post-Story Clean Up
Key trophies to unlock: “Monkey See, Monkey Rescue" (silver), "Tentacular Spectacular" (silver), "Fangs Very Much!" (silver), "Nowhere To Hide" (silver), "Back To The Nest" (silver), "Lost and Found" (silver), "Splash My Dash" (silver), "Time for a Change" (silver), "Animal Attraction" (silver), "Monumental Achievement" (silver), "Strike A Pose!" (bronze), "Net Profit" (bronze), "Eyes of the All-Father" (bronze), "The Lost Eggacy" (bronze), "What A Trip!" (bronze).
After beating the story, you'll want to get into the Post-Story Clean Up and start hunting down all the missing Jigsaw Pieces, hidden bots, Secret Portals, and any remaining trophies related to specific levels.
As you unlock Jigsaw Pieces, you'll gradually unlock "Splash My Dash," "Time for a Change," "Animal Attraction," and "Monumental Achievement" for opening the Dual Speeder Garage, Changing Room, Safari Park, and Golden Statue respectively. All four of these are located at the central Crash Site hub and appear after a short cutscene.
During this phase of the game, the only one of these locations you'll need to visit before moving on is the Safari Park. Visiting here will unlock Astro Bot's Photo Mode, which you'll need if you want to unlock the "Strike A Pose!" trophy at one of the photo spots scattered across the galaxy. Just go up to any photo spot, activate Photo Mode once unlocked, and snap a pic and you're done!
Check this bush for the "Net Profit" trophy
Unlock four trophies from PlayStation Studios levels
There are five PlayStation Studios levels that offer unique power-ups themed around some of Sony's biggest franchises. Four of these levels feature a unique trophy challenge that you can unlock at any time during your Story Playthrough, but you might want to save them until after you beat the Final Boss if you want to just enjoy the vibes of the level on your first playthrough.
In the stage Apes on the Loose, there's a golden butterfly hidden in one of the bushes that you'll need to catch to unlock the "Net Profit" trophy. In the stage Bot of War, there are eight green birds hidden quite well in the stage that you'll need to bash to unlock "Eyes of the All-Father."
The "egg-shaped orbs" you need to find for "The Lost Eggacy."
Then, in the Dude Raider stage, there are three special egg-shaped orbs hidden in the stage, some of which require puzzle-solving skills to uncover. Collect those and you'll unlock "The Lost Eggacy." Finally, there's the "What A Trip!" trophy, which you'll unlock for leading seven enemies into the purple electrified wires placed around the Machine Learning stage.
Once you've earned all those trophies, head back to Crash Site to reward yourself with a bunch of easy trophies (and one fairly tough one).
Look for these wires to unlock "What A Trip!"
Tip 3: Celebrate your hard work with a Crash Site Finale
Key trophies to unlock: "Wall Buster" (bronze), "Keep It Together!" (bronze), “Money Well Spent" (silver), "Let's Twist Again" (bronze), "KO!" (bronze), "Royally Stuck" (bronze), "Thaw, God of Thunder!" (bronze), "Deep-Pocket Dragon" (bronze), "Thick As Thieves" (bronze), "Bot Bot Revolution" (bronze), "At The Top Of My Game" (bronze), "SingStars" (bronze), "The Golden Bot" (gold).
Once you've found all the missing bots and uncovered all the of the Jigsaw Pieces, it's time to reap that last few trophies from the Crash Site! To be clear, you can also earn a lot of these trophies by visiting the Crash Site throughout your playthrough, you don't have to wait until the end. That said, why not give your Astro Bot experience a big trophy hunting finale?
Punch someone here to unlock "Keep It Together!"
First and foremost, you've probably racked up quite a lot of coins during your playthrough by this point! It's time to cash them all in at the Gatcha Lab. Feed coins into the machine and open 150 capsules to unlock the "Money Well Spent" trophy.
Next, let's grab two easy trophies related to smacking bots around. From your landing spot on Crash Site, head north-west until you reach a few rocks in the ground that require 10 bots to lift. Summon the bots and then slap one out of the tower they form to unlock the "Keep It Together!" trophy.
Punch someone here to unlock "Wall Buster"
To unlock "Wall Buster," you just have to knock a bot out of one of the running walls they form at various points across Crash Site. There are a few spots to form bot walls throughout Crash Site, but one that never goes away even after beating the game is right in front of the Golden Statue. Summon the bots, wait until the wall is built, then smack someone out of there to collapse it and get your trophy.
While everyone is standing around in a heap, why not take this opportunity to also unlock "Bot Bot Revolution"? You can also unlock this trophy at any time by whistling to draw the bots together (with the Triangle button) and the pressing down on the Directional Buttons to start dancing. Your robot buddies will join you, and if you have a group of more than 100 with you, you'll get this trophy.
Dress up as Jak to really bring this trophy home.
Six easy Special Bots trophies can be unlocked at Crash Site
There are six trophies related to messing around with specific Special Bots, all of which you can unlock at Crash Site during your playthrough. To unlock "Let's Twist Again," simply stand next to the bot that looks like Crash Bandicoot and press down on the Directional Buttons to copy Crash's iconic dance and grab the trophy.
To unlock the "KO!" trophy, simply slap both bots that looks like Ken and Ryu from Street Fighter while standing between them and get them into a fight. To unlock "Royally Stuck," slap the bot that looks like The Prince of All Cosmos from Katamari Damacy and he'll start rolling around his famous sticky ball. Walk into the path of the sticky ball and you'll unlock the trophy.
Here's where you can find the Kazuma Kiryu bot.
To unlock "Thaw, God of Thunder," you'll first need to unlock the Kratos bot's Leviathan Axe by finding it in one of the Gatcha Lab capsules. Once unlocked, slap Kratos and then run away in the direction of the bot that looks like Thor. Kratos will slam the axe down, freezing Thor in an ice cube and unlocking the trophy for you.
The "Deep-Pocket Dragon" trophy is pretty simple — just find the Kazuma Kiryu bot and keep slapping on him to empty his pockets. Once you've seen all of the items he drops, the trophy will unlock automatically. If you're not sure which one's Kazuma Kiryu, he'll have a neon red sign behind him once you find it one of the Gatcha Lab capsules.
Finally, there's "Thick as Thieves," which you unlock by getting a picture in Photo Mode that has both the Lara Croft bot and the Nathan Drake bot in frame. To unlock this, you can either unlock Lara Croft's raptor in the Gatcha Lab, wait until it chases her in front of Nathan Drake, and then snap the picture. Or, you can simply summon all the bots together with the Triangle button and then snap a group picture, which does the job fine.
Stand here to unlock "SingStars"
Finish up Crash Site with The Mothership and The Golden Bot
After cleaning up all the trophies related to special bots, you can move on to the two trophies related to The Mothership — the giant PS5 standing in the center of Crash Site. Both of these trophies can only be unlocked after you've finished your Story Playthrough and vanquished Nebulax, so keep that in mind if you're trying to do things out of order.
First, there's the "SingStars" trophy, which unlocks after you climb the ladder on the left side of the PS5. The left cover of the PS5 will open up to reveal the Ship Parts you uncovered during the story, and if you have the GPU, Cooling Fan, SSD, Memory, and CPU Kid all together, they'll sing a song. Listen to the song for a few seconds and that will unlock the trophy.
Take it all in to unlock "At The Top of My Game"
Secondly, there's the "At The Top of My Game" trophy, which unlocks for standing on top of The Mothership. You can do this by climbing the ladders and rope on the right side of the console. A spring will give you the final boost you need to make it to the top, and if you stand up there for a second or two, the trophy will unlock.
Finally, there's "The Golden Bot" trophy — one of the toughest trophies to unlock in the game in terms of the skills required to beat it. Once you've unlocked the Golden Statue, you'll need to have also unlocked 300 bots to form a bot wall in front of the statue and unlock the game's final challenge stage.
Your final battle awaits.
This final stage combines a lot of the tricky platforming you will have already experienced in the secret Lost Symbols stages dotted around the rest of the galaxy. Make it through the entire challenge in one run and you'll find one more Special Bot. Slap that bot to end the stage and congratulations — you've just unlocked "The Golden Bot" and, if you've been following these tips in order, the "Astro-nomical" platinum trophy!
