Assassin's Creed Shadows has been revealed as the official name for the 14th mainline game, shedding its codename of Assassin's Creed Red as it joins the upcoming Assassin's Creed games list! With a much bigger reveal coming from Ubisoft soon, we'll be finding out exactly what our time collecting Assassin's Creed Shadows trophies will be like.

Assassin's Creed Shadows name revealed ahead of full PS5 blowout

Assassin's Creed Shadows is having a full blowout reveal ahead of release on PS5 and other platforms. The live stream will Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at 9am PT / 12pm ET / 5pm BST and give us a proper look at the latest entry in Ubisoft's flagship historical action-adventure franchise. Set in Feudal Japan, it will allegedly have two possible protagonists — one black male samurai and one female shinobi — and will be built on a fresh game engine.
Unofficially, leaks have revealed a few other details. Below the official live stream (embedded) was an Assassin's Creed Red release date for Friday, November 15, 2024, for PS5 and other current-gen systems. According to reliable leaker Frax, the price will reportedly be set at £69.99 and a Season Pass featuring two major expansions has also been doing the rounds.

I'm pretty excited about the new Assassin's Creed game, though it's been a while since I've been truly blown away by an entry into the franchise. If you've read my Assassin's Creed Valhalla review, you'll know that there were some serious high points in that game. However, these were matched by some serious lows normally around the extreme bloat.
As for Feudal Japan, it's been highly requested amongst the Assassin's Creed fanbase for a long time. There is a lot of potential for it, but I do think the thunder of such a dynamic and complex country has somewhat been captured with Ghost of Tsushima (and, to a lesser extent, Rise of the Ronin). If Ubisoft can make its version of Japan shine in comparison to Tsushima and Iki Island in Sucker Punch's game, that will be a special achievement, indeed.

Obviously, that nerdy bit of me just wants to get my hands on it so I can place it amongst the best Assassin's Creed games. Are you excited for the full Assassin's Creed Shadows reveal? Let me know in the comments, TrueTrophies clan!
