Just when we thought popularity had peaked for Among Us, its PS Plus player count has skyrocketed. If you’ve not already stocked up on Among Us trophies, now would be a great time to jump aboard. The PS Plus player count for July 2024 looks positive indeed, with this month's lineup connecting with audiences more than the previous month.

Among Us’s inclusion in July’s PS Plus lineup has given it a player count boost

  • Among Us experienced a 1088.7% increase in player count after being included in July’s PS Plus lineup
  • The social deduction game was released in 2021 for PS4 and PS5
  • Among Us normally costs £3.29/$4.99 on the PS Store
Using a gameplay data sample from over 3.1 million active PSN accounts (courtesy of our partnership with GameInsights), we can see that the player count for the social deduction game Among Us has shot up by over 1088.7%.
Among Us was fairly cheap to begin with, listed at a mere £3.29/$4.99, but its inclusion as a 'free' game in July’s PS Plus lineup seems to have encouraged players to bite the bullet and get on board with this spaceship-based party game.

For those who haven’t yet been pulled in by the global hit, Among Us is a multiplayer game for between 4 and 15 players. As members of a spaceship crew, you’re all working to keep things running, while a sneaky saboteur is secretly working against you. It’s your job to work out who it is and boot them off the ship in time.

When you’re stuck for something to do or have long-distance pals, Among Us is an ideal addition to your PS4 or PS5 library. Crossplay between consoles, mobile, and PC also means you can play with almost anyone, so it’s no surprise the game continues to do well.
Sure, while the game is cheap to buy on its own, the fact it's free will have enticed a lot of players who would normally pass up experiencing this fun multiplayer. I know I was tempted to revisit the game on PlayStation thanks to PS Plus Essential. However, now I'm interested in seeing if Among Us can retain this influx of players or if they will all slowly jump ship.

Does Among Us deserve a temporary spot on our best PS Plus games list? Were you one of the players who downloaded it during July? Let us know in the comments below!

Chart compiled using gameplay data from over 3.1 million active PlayStation accounts (not just TrueTrophies accounts). Chart information is copyright GameInsights. Regarding this data:
  • When an account opens a game, this is registered as a game being played. Accounts can only register a game once per week.
  • Our data is good for suggesting general trends — we represent this using percentages, not numbers.

Miri's hobbies outside of gaming inform everything about their on-screen preferences: Lots of reading, irritatingly tough puzzles, and anything vaguely historical. As such, they're always on the lookout for another Disco Elysium-type read-a-thon, a Myst-like island to get lost in, or an ancient time capsule like The Forgotten City. Other than that, if anything is being described as "weird and unsettling", it's either Miri, or their new favorite indie game.
