Sony E3 Interview Blowout: Part 1

By Rebecca Smith,
Anybody who was following our E3 coverage would have realised that Sony had made a point of sitting down with virtually every developer under the sun to get an interview about their upcoming titles. Now that the conference is over, we have the final 14 interviews for you to enjoy. As I'm rarely cruel enough to put 14 videos in the same article, we've split this into two parts. The first seven interviews are below.

ABZU

Developer Giant Squid Studios was at E3 to announce a release date for their upcoming under the sea exploration game, as well as a new trailer. The game's lead programmer Matt Nava joined Sony to demonstrate over 10 minutes of gameplay footage. Look out for the game on August 2nd.

Aragami

The game formerly known as Twin Souls: The Path of Shadows is now a console exclusive for the Playstation 4. The stealth title allows players to control the shadows with your supernatural abilities. Developer Lince Works' David Leon joined Sony to provide commentary during nearly 10 minutes of live gameplay. The game is due to be released this fall.

Brutal

This roguelike dungeon crawler didn't make much of a splash during E3 but was still present at the show. The game came to our attention during an interview where Stormcloud Games' Richard Wood gave a seven minute demonstration of his adventures through a rather unique ASCII inspired world. Players will be able to avoid permadeath when the game releases in late July or early August.

Cryptark

We hadn't seen anything of this title for eight months, so it was a bit of a surprise to see AlienTrap Games' Jesse McGibney bring the title onto Sony's stage for 10 minutes. Take a look at the sci-fi roguelike, which is a shooter blended with a bit of "space pirate business management", as the protagonist clears out a spaceship to fulfil his contract. Make sure to plan accordingly when the game releases this Fall.

Don't Starve Together

Dont Starve Console Edition was one of the first Playstation 4 titles to be available on Playstation Plus. In a world where "everything wants you to die", players had to fend for themselves. Now the latest version of the title allows players to team up and fight the world together. Corey Rollins from Klei Entertainment detailed the title on stage before its release later this year.

Headlander

In this title, players take on the role of the last human head in a sea of robot bodies. In order to survive, players must propel this head through the levels from body to body, defeating hostile machines and looking out for the fate of humanity. Double Fine Productions' Greg Rice showcased a new ten minute gameplay demo from the upcoming title that will be available in July
.

How We Soar

Not to be confused with Ubisoft's Eagle Flight, this Playstation VR title from Penny Black Studios is a flight experience that places players on the back of a phoenix as it travels through a papercraft inspired world. As you explore, you will restore colour to the world and watch as torn and unfolded tatters turn into recognisable environments. Tom Turner provides the commentary for this gameplay footage. The game will launch later this year.

Keep your eyes open for part two and the final interviews for this year.
