Battlezone's Improvements a Year Later

By Cindy Minguez,
Taking to PlayStation Blog, Jason Kingsley of Rebellion brings us an update on the tank battler Battlezone a year after its announcement for the PlayStation VR. First revealed at E3 2015, the title has made breathtaking changes by the time it hit E3 2016.

The original Battlezone came out for arcades way back in 1980. Rebellion has taken the same game and brought it forward into the world of virtual reality, and what better game for VR than fighting tanks? Kingsley discusses improvements in four major areas over the last year: graphics, controls, the cockpit, and the campaign.

Most interesting of the changes made is probably the controls. Kingsley says that after watching "probably thousands" of people get hands-on with the game at shows, they noticed that people were always looking for the PS4 controller, so they decided to map it into the cockpit of the tank! No matter what you're doing, you'll have the familiar feel of your Dual Shock controller right there with you in the VR world.

He also brought a new trailer for E3 showing how the game looks a year on in development.

Battlezone will be a launch title with the VR in October.
