2K Games Issues GameSpy Server Update

By Rebecca Smith,
At the start of this month, we revealed that Gamespy Technology, a service that provided several multiplayer services like matchmaking, were closing down their hosting services on May 31st, 2014. A fair number of Playstation 3 titles (and the odd Vita title) used these services for matchmaking, so a lot of titles could potentially be affected by this move. We promised that we would bring updates as soon as we heard anything. Today, 2K Games has finally issued a statement regarding the two titles that would be affected by the server closure.

Unfortunately, it isn't all good news. Borderlands and Civilization Revolution will both go offline on May 31st. While the latter title does not have trophy support, the former does have one trophy, And They'll Tell Two Friends, that does require a player to be online in order to unlock it. 2K are still looking at the "technical feasibility of transitioning those titles", so hopefully the offline period will only be temporary. I would still recommend unlocking the online trophy as soon as possible though.

2K has promised to provide updates regarding future online support for these two titles. When we hear anything, we'll be sure to let you know!

We've got the full list of Borderlands trophies - check the list for guides to unlocking them.
