Sony Confirms PS4 Neo

By MunchMagic1986,
The rumours and speculations have been swirling around for months now about an upgraded Playstation 4 codenamed 'Neo', but Sony has been keeping tight-lipped about the existence of the machine; until now. Speaking with the Financial Times, President and CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment, Andrew House, confirmed that the upgraded console is to be released, but that they will not be showing it off at E3.

House did make it clear that the upgraded system would not make the current Playstation 4 obsolete, but as an extra option for gamers to get more out of the Playstation 4, and that all games, both current and future games, would be compatible with both versions of the console. He also gave a short answer as to why they will not be showing it off at E3.

It is intended to sit alongside and complement the standard PS4. We will be selling both through the life cycle...All games will support the standard PS4 and we anticipate all or a very large majority of games will also support the high-end PS4. We want to ensure we have a full range of the best experiences on the new system that we can showcase in their entirety. The consumer is attuned to a different cadence of innovation in technology thanks in great part for the upgrades cadence on mobile phones or PCs.
While the more-powerful 4K supported Playstation 4 does not have a release window yet, we do know that it will be more expensive than the current Playstation 4, which was expected.

What do you make of this announcement, and will you be looking to upgrade to the new flashier console, or will you just be sticking with what you have?
