Robert Kirkman Teases More Timeline Crossover for The Walking Dead

By Mark Delaney,
We're 12 years removed from the debut of Robert Kirkman's The Walking Dead as a property so you might think that the franchise would be on its back end, but all signs indicate the opposite. Kirkman has stated previously that the comic, which currently sits at just over 150 published issues, is targeting 300-400 before it's over. Additionally, the AMC series is still consistently television's biggest show season after season. All of this comes alongside the wildly successful Telltale adventure series that most recently spawned a side story centered around the katana-wielding Michonne.

Telltale sat down with Kirkman recently to discuss the future of the games and how the Michonne spinoff plays into the canon. Most intriguingly, the writer teases some more crossover plot content in season three of Telltale's The Walking Dead. The video contains some light Michonne spoilers and some heavier comic spoilers, so if you aren't up to date on either or both, tread lightly.

If you can't watch the video, it should be noted that Kirkman promises that season three of the game will be "checking in on Clementine again" and that the new season will bring with it some big surprises. He also confirmed the timeline of season three as taking place roughly concurrently with the latest issues of the comic.

The complete three episode mini-series of Michonne is out now, with season three rumored to debut by year's end.
