Samurai Warriors 4 Empires New Feature Reveal

By Alex Frost,
Koei Tecmo released new information recently about their upcoming game Full Kiss Samurai Warriors 4 Empires PS4 Trophies, the latest installment in the long-running Samurai Warriors series. This new set of tantalizing information gives us a glimpse at two new systems within the game: Castle Customization and Scene Substitution.

Castle customization now allows for players to change up their castle to look, and feel, more like the castle they've always wanted to build. Changing wallpapers and adding banners are the staple here, but each banner can add a different bonus, like increased supplies, income, and fame. Banners can be obtained by completing missions or other tasks. The video below gives us a visual offering of how this system works.

Scene substitution is probably the more exciting feature to date. As with many Musou games I've played in the past, one of the more annoying problems I've had with characters I've created is how lifeless they appear. With scene substitution, this is no longer a problem.

Players will be able to fully create and customize their playable character- including appearance, leadership, wisdom, or politics attributes, and move sets, as well as personalized family crests, Musou kanji, and portraits uploaded from a hard drive. In addition, these characters will be fully immersed in the drama of the era, meeting and becoming part of the lives of historical figures (either as friends or foes).
If that wasn't enough, with this new feature we are also able to substitute our own, created characters for real-life ones in the game engine itself. What to swap Nobunaga Oda for your albino created character with a paintbrush for a weapon? Now you're able to do it in any cutscene, or movie, you've already unlocked. I'm sure there will be way too much fun to be had with this feature alone. Check it out in action below.

Another feature was announced as well, that of conquered territories now have their own resources you can exploit. Horses will allow for mounted units to be required, farms will give extra income, and Ninja Villages allow for espionage to take place. Certainly, there's much more than meets the eye with this new title.

If you're itching for more, a bunch of screenshots were also included in this information release.

Coming to the PlayStation 4 as a physical and digital title, the PlayStation 3 and Vita systems as digital only, Samurai Warriors 4: Empires will be released on March 11th, 2016 in Europe and March 15th in North America.
