Afro Samurai 2: Revenge of Kuma Volume 1 Trophies Episode 1 was released at the end of September. Despite the release being the first of three episodes, everything has since been quiet from developer Redacted Studios and publisher Versus Evil. We have waited patiently for news, but that news is not positive.
Last week, both the first episode and the trilogy were removed from the Playstation Store after being available for just seven weeks. CGMagazine managed to speak with Steve Escalante, manager at Versus Evil, to find out why:
The game was a failure. We could not do, in good conscience, volume 2 and volume 3. So we’ve begun the process, it’s been a long process to figure it out because Sony has never really had to do this in this way, but we’re returning all the money. So across the board we’re putting out an apology saying ‘sorry about this.’
We’re Versus Evil; a company perspective, from a partnership perspective and now we have to do it from a consumer perspective. So we pulled it down, because we didn’t want to exacerbate it anymore and then we’re refunding the money.
There we have it. Episodes 2 and 3 will never be released. Players who purchased the Trilogy may have already been contacted to be offered a refund. If not, we recommend that you contact Sony yourself to seek a refund.
