The Butterfly Effect is an aspect of Chaos Theory that posits that any tiny change can create huge changes further down the line, and this theory plays a big role in the interactive horror title Until Dawn. The choices one makes can have either immediate or long-term effects during the course of the very long night.
Of course, you may not realize that you just made a terrible mistake. That's something you might not grasp until hours later when it's far too late, in a game in which your choices can decide which of your friends live and which ones die.
The way we have implemented this system in game means there are thousands of potential branches to every player’s individual story. Some of your decisions might appear to be inconsequential – a conversation choice that makes a character come across as a bit of an ass, for example – but if you’d made a different choice that character might have ended up the hero. Everything you choose can affect how other characters react, potentially with dire consequences.
Until Dawn is set for release on PlayStation 4 on August 25th, 2015 in North America, August 26th in Europe and Australia, and on August 28th in UK and Ireland.
