On May 31st, 2014, server host GameSpy shut down all of their hosting services. This affected many titles including Gearbox's Borderlands, which saw one of its trophies become discontinued. However, we bring good news. While I'm sure that the offline period was much longer than anybody had wished, online functionality has been restored to Borderlands in North America and Europe. The servers will be restored in Japan "soon".
Players who have started the game since February 2nd will have been prompted to download the update to restore server functionality. The update also fixes these issues:
• Within Borderlands multiplayer, you can sort your friends list in a few different ways:
--- Who is playing Borderlands
--- Who is online
--- Alphabetical order
• The “And They’ll Tell Two Friends” Trophy will now grant correctly
• Improvements to voice chat
Note that if your save was previously stored in the cloud instead of on your PlayStation 3 hard drive, some settings such as screen brightness, Y-Axis invert, etc. may need to be reset.
As mentioned above, this now renders all trophies obtainable again, so you can now complete Borderlands if you hadn't done so already.
We've got the full list of Borderlands trophies - check the list for guides to unlocking them.
