To commemorate 10 years since the franchise was born, Ubisoft have announced that they will be releasing a compilation of Far Cry games in Europe to be known as Far Cry: Wild Expedition; this collection will include Far Cry Classic, Far Cry 2, Far Cry 3, and the arcade spin-off Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon.
The Far Cry series, which first appeared on PC way back in 2004, was one of the early shining examples of how to do free-roaming adventuring right, a feature that has become much more prevalent in gaming today. Each of the titles in the series had their own self-contained story, but all took place in some beautiful but dangerous backdrop, such as the mountains, forests and beaches of a secluded tropical island wonderland, the jungles and savannas of Africa, or in Blood Dragon's case, a wacky futuristic retro world reminiscent of an 80's sci-fi action movie. All games included a cast of deliciously insane characters to both assist and torment the player.
Far Cry: Wild Expedition will be available in Europe for the PS3 on February 14th. The price has so far been unconfirmed.
