With an array of PS5 games to pursue on the PS Store, it can be a little overwhelming figuring out which title should be your next venture. Thankfully, Sony has recently implemented a rating system on the PS Store that allows you to quickly see how a game is fairing in the public's eye. We've picked out some of the best-rated games on the PS Store for you to browse and decide if they are worth playing or not.
Check out 5 of the top-rated PS5 games on the PS Store
The ratings come from a whole host of different PSN users and each game will have varying amounts of ratings left for it. For example, Fortnite has over six million ratings, whereas Alan Wake 2 only has 2.3K. So, we will also take into account the sheer volume of votes a game may have received as well as the overall rating it currently resides with.
There is also no way to search the PS Store for the highest-rated titles. So, we have researched a sample of the biggest PS5 games of the year (indie, AAA, and everything in-between). So, if you've noticed a game we missed, make sure you leave a comment down below and you can help us grow our list. With that said, let's take a look at some of the best-rated PS5 games on the PS Store.
5. Fortnite
Fortnite PS Store rating
- Release Date: November 12, 2020
- Developer: Epic Games
- Is it on PS Plus? No, the game is free-to-play on PS5 and PS4
While there are definitely many more games with higher ratings than 4.32 stars, hardly any of them have received an eye-watering six million ratings. The sheer volume alone is a feat in itself, but to still be so highly favored is another. Fortnite certainly looks to have cemented itself as one of the best free PS5 games and knows how to keep its player base hooked and happy.
Fortnite is a vibrant battle royale title that sees you facing off against many other players in PVP battles that can be played either solo or in teams. You can don an array of spectacular costumes, unlock badass crossover characters like Lara Croft, Naruto, and Doctor Who, and utilize powerful weapons to gain the upper hand in your fights. There is also a building mechanic that adds to the chaos and fun the game has to offer.
The Fortnite trophies will also keep you playing for a prolonged period of time if you want to earn the platinum. As you can imagine with a free-to-play online game, there are a lot of multiplayer challenges standing in your way and keeping you engaged. Currently, the platinum trophy 'Hero of the Storm' has an overall completion rate of 0.10%.
4. Grand Theft Auto Online
GTA Online rating
- Release Date: March 15, 2022
- Developer: Rockstar
- Is it on PS Plus? No
It shouldn't be a surprise to see a GTA game here, while there have been a lot of memes regarding the fact Rockstar keeps re-releasing GTA V, there is no denying that it isn't a stellar title. Clearly, the public agrees, as the game currently sits with a rating of 4.52 stars with a total of 644K votes.
GTA V / GTA Online allows players to experience the fun and thrills of Grand Theft Auto while surrounded by other players and friends, You can join roleplay servers where you can be a police officer, a drug lord, or anything your mind can imagine. You can take part in heists while attempting to earn a few trophies along the way and you can play a whole host of exciting multiplayer games as you battle it out to be the victor.
While there is a lot of fun and games to be had, the Grand Theft Auto V trophies will keep you entertained for a long time as well. You've got a lot of collecting to do, side missions to finish, and leveling up to complete online. If you manage to do all of that then the platinum 'Los Santos Legend' is as good as yours. However, the platinum currently has an overall completion rate of 0.10% on PSN, so, don't expect to earn this one quickly.
3. Alan Wake 2
Alan Wake 2 PS Store rating
- Release Date: October 27, 2023
- Developer: Remedy Entertainment
- Is it on PS Plus? No
Alan Wake 2 is the most recent release on this list, landing on PS5 on Friday, October 27, 2023. While only being around for a short period of time, the game already has a rating of 4.84 stars with over 2.3K votes. While this is the lowest amount of PSN user ratings so far, the fact the game has already accumulated this many positive votes in such a short space of time is fantastic.
Alan Wake 2 will see you playing as either Alan Wake or Saga Anderson through two separate single-player stories where the endings differ from one another. Unlike the original game which was an action-adventure game with horror elements, Alan Wake II is a full-on survival horror title. The game is receiving a lot of positive attention, with some users claiming it has Game of the Year written all over it.
The Alan Wake II trophies will see you collecting a variety of weapons, defeating many horrific enemies, and finishing up the main story of the game. Seeing as the game has only been around for a brief period, the platinum trophy 'Sisu' has only garnered an overall completion rate of 0.70% on PSN, so far.
2. Baldur's Gate 3
Baldur's Gate 3 PS Store rating
- Release Date: September 6, 2023
- Developer: Larian Studios
- Is it on PS Plus? No
Baldur's Gate 3 is a game that had a lot of hype around it before it made its debut on PS5. Well, it was clear that hype was warranted as the title currently sits with an astonishing 4.9 stars with a total of 19K votes. We called Baldur's Gate 3 one of the best RPGs we have ever played in our Baldur's Gate 3 first impressions, so these ratings certainly match up to that prestigious comment.
Baldur's Gate 3 will see you taking on the role of your own created character or choosing from one of six origin characters. You will need to help them get rid of a horrific parasite that has infested their brain and is slowly turning them into a tentacle-ridden monstrosity. Along the way you encounter nightmarish terrors, loot beyond your wildest dream, a beautifully crafted story, and a host of fabulous characters.
The Baldur's Gate 3 trophies will keep you engaged for hundreds of hours — something I can personally attest to. The game will require multiple playthroughs in order to earn all the different ending-based trophies, beating the game at the highest difficulty, and performing a variety of random tasks. Currently, the platinum trophy 'Pride of Baldur's Gate' has an overall completion rate of 0.10%, so you best be ready for the long grind ahead.
1. Marvel's Spider-Man 2
Marvel's Spider-Man 2 PS Store rating
- Release Date: October 20, 2023
- Developer: Insomniac Games
- Is it on PS Plus? No
Marvel's Spider-Man 2 has been dominating our PlayStation Chart recently and the slew of ratings on the PS Store clearly show why this is. The game currently sits with a rating of 4.93 stars out of 54K votes, a pretty hefty number indeed. Marvel's Spider-Man 2 had a lot to live up to after the phenomenal first game and series, and it seems the sequel is not disappointing.
You'll be playing both Peter Parker and Miles Morales as you take to the skies of New York City and protect it from a whole host of baddies hellbent on bringing corruption and destruction to it. You'll also be playing Mary Jane in a few sections as you try and uncover the many mysteries lurking in the shadows. Oh, and you'll be fighting against Venom here and there, so that's a lot of fun!
The Marvel's Spider-Man 2 trophies look to be just as simple as its predecessor, asking you to complete pretty much everything the game has to offer. Once you've managed to pull off that feat, the platinum trophy 'Dedicated' is as good as yours. Currently, the platinum sits with an overall completion rate of 13.80% on PSN, which is pretty snazzy indeed.
That's all the ratings we will be looking at today. Are there any games you think we should look at to see how they are fairing in the public eye? Would you like us to have a look at the best
