Well, we hope you weren't sitting there twiddling your thumbs and waiting to collect either the Skull and Bones trophies or the Star Wars Outlaws trophies any time soon! Apparently, Skull and Bones and Star Wars Outlaws delays seem to have pushed both games back. Though, with Ubisoft's wider issues in getting games out on time recently, it's hardly surprising.

Skull and Bones and Star Wars Outlaws delayed

The news comes out of Ubisoft's latest financial report ending in September 2023. First, let's get the obvious one out of the way that everybody would have bet all their doubloons on being dated for a sixth time: Skull and Bones. We have a new window for the former 2023 release in the form of a very vague 2024 release window for Skull and Bones. Sure, Captain, whatever you say.
Perhaps more interestingly comes the news that Star Wars Outlaws is facing a delay from its former release window of early 2024 on PS5. Now, Ubisoft doesn't mention the massive IP entry by name in the report. Instead, it states it will head into the new year "without releasing the other large game it had initially planned to launch during the last quarter of the current fiscal year." The report concludes, "The Company has decided to launch this other large game in FY2024-25, so as to maximize its value creation."

This can only mean Star Wars Outlaws is delayed until past April 2024, really. Ubisoft seems to be delaying it to ensure it has some big release for the next financial year rather than having a blank lineup of game releases. Plus, this gives the developers more time to work on the game. I think we can all appreciate that aspect of the news: who could refuse a more polished game at launch?
Star Wars Outlaws is an open-world game in that classic Ubisoft style set in the period between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. There will be plenty of planets to explore as 'scoundrel' Kay Vess as she tries to escape a syndicate of cartels after her. Skull and Bones, meanwhile, is an online pirate game with ship battles galore. It was supposed to be a relatively simple Assassin's Creed Black Flag spin-off — the best Assassin's Creed game in our opinion — but something very, very wrong seems to have gone wrong with it since it was announced in 2017.

So, here we are! It's the end of the article. Let me suggest that you check out our latest dive into the Assassin's Creed Mirage player count and see how it has boosted the other games in the series! If you have already read that, then why not comment your thoughts on the delays down below, and I will see you down there!
