Using TrueGaming's original data, we have compiled the 40 top PS5 games of the week from across active PSN accounts. Full of the best PS5 games, this week's real highlights are the raw numbers leaping into The Callisto Protocol on PS Plus and players beginning a Baghdad journey collecting Assassin's Creed Mirage trophies on the way!

Cyberpunk 2077, Assassin's Creed, and The Callisto Protocol perform

It's been week after week of big game debuts, but before we jump into yet another big release with Assassin's Creed Mirage, it's worth taking a look at those players currently diving deep into those Cyberpunk 2077 trophies as they blast through the game's Phantom Liberty DLC. The game has held the same position on our chart, though the total player count has dropped by 9% week-on-week. This will happen for the single-player title as players naturally wrap up the story, but people are clearly big fans of the work developer CD Projekt Red has put in.
Now, the next biggest re-debut worth talking about is The Callisto Protocol. If the much-hyped horror-action title struggled to get the critics onside after a rock late 2022 debut, patching the game into the perfect state and releasing it to everyone on PS Plus is certainly one way to get everyone onside again.

It comes in eighth position on the chart, saddled straight in between Rainbow Six Siege in seventh and Apex Legends in ninth. That is a very impressive debut and proved that the game had maintained interest from players, but no one was willing to spend their money on a game deemed below a 7/10 on most review aggregators.

As a part of the other games in the PS Plus October 2023 lineup, we have Farming Simulator 22 in 20th and Weird West in 23rd. That's not bad in either case given that they both belong to niche subgenres. However, we are willing to bet that Farming Simulator 22 sticks around for longer than expected — the folks into that genre are really into it! We hope Weird West sticks around, but we suspect that it will not be, and not for lack of quality, but simply due to an inability to sustain a large enough audience week-on-week.
Then we have Assassin's Creed Mirage! Coming in at 12th, this might be slightly lower than expected for most players eagerly leap of faith-ing into the return to the old ways. However, it's only been on sale for a weekend, so we could reasonably expect a rise in fortunes next week. Games like FIFA 23 will give way to it, and then Mirage only has a small gap of player count to close between itself and eighth place, so we are expecting a bit of a jump. Hopefully, we will have our review ready for you then, too!

Chart compiled using gameplay data from over 3.2 million active PlayStation accounts (not just TrueTrophies accounts). Chart information is copyright GameInsights. Regarding this data:
  • Popularity is measured by a game being booted up and played, not by the length of time played.
  • Our data is good for suggesting general trends — we represent this using percentages, not numbers.
