Who knows what the The Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 1 trophies will look like, but at least we finally have an update on the last-gen version! That's right, The Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol 1 PS4 release date will be released alongside the PS5 version and adds to an even more stacked version of the upcoming PS5 and PS4 games calendar.

When does Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol 1 release on PS4?

The Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol 1 release date for PS4 is set for Tuesday, October 24, 2023 — notably the same day as the PS5 release date. However, it has taken over two months for Konami to announce the news, as per Gematsu. That's presumably because the company decided to produce the PS4 port late in development (after considerable fan backlash) and weren't sure it would match the previously announced PS5 version's release date.
The collection itself does seem like the definitive version of the earliest games in the series. It includes Metal Gear, Metal Gear 2 Solid Snake, Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2 Sons of Liberty, Metal Gear Solid 3 Snake Eater, the FC and NES version of Metal Gear, and Snake's Revenge. The games will also have a whole load of bonus content, like soundtracks, screenplays, and digital art books. If you are so willing, you can pre-order the game on PS5 or PS4 today ahead of release on both consoles, but for PS4 it looks like it's going to be a digital-only release.

The real big deal is that there will be a Metal Gear Solid platinum trophy — it's just a question of whether each game has its own trophies or if there is a weird combined Master Collection trophy list. For example, The Uncharted Legacy of Thieves trophies has a separate DLC list required to earn the platinum in the base game trophies and the Mass Effect Legendary Edition trophies experimented with one platinum per game with an overarching trophy list required for 100% completion.

In any case, it seems very possible that this is a collection that will land on the best PlayStation games list — so long as it manages to decently port some of the most seminal games of all time onto new consoles. What do you think though? Will you be getting the game on PS4? Let us know in the comments below and we will see you down there!
